LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: AI Roker has opened up more about his 2022 health complications, which “almost” killed him.
PEOPLE reported that the TV personality, who was admitted to hospital for blood clots in his lungs and legs in November 2022, spoke on the 'Your Mama’s Kitchen' podcast.

‘I forgot how important those touchstone moments are’
He shared, “It’s no secret that I had a severe medical issue, and to be completely honest, I almost died. I didn’t know it at the time.”
The 69-year-old continued, “But I missed Thanksgiving, and almost missed Christmas. And I forgot how important those touchstone moments are.”

Roker also stated, “I felt, in a sense, badly because I ruined Thanksgiving for the family and I was not going to let that happen for Christmas.”
“It was important to me and gave me something to push for. And I made Christmas dinner,” he added.
‘I lost half my blood’
This comes after earlier this year, Roker told on Today, “Look, I had two complicating things. I had blood clots, which they think came up after I had COVID in September.”

“And then I had this internal bleeding going on, I lost half my blood. They were trying to figure out where it was,” the weather presenter mentioned.
‘I'm a living example of ignorance is bliss’
Besides, the author also acknowledged his wife Deborah Roberts’ efforts while he was not well.
He said, “Thank god for Deborah. She basically shielded me from all of this. I'm a living example of ignorance is bliss.”
“I was able to put all my energy into recuperating because I didn't know how bad this was. ... I thought I was doing good!” Roker added.

Deborah Roberts, Roker's wife, had only positive things to say about her husband.
She revealed, as reported by OK! Magazine, “It’s not lost on us that this is a major, major thing for Al to be here. He is a living, breathing miracle. He really is. I’m not overstating it.”
The journalist asserted, “Al was a very, very, very sick man and I don’t think most people know that. He was a medical mystery for weeks. It was the most tumultuous, frightening journey we have ever been on.”
