PALM SPRINGS, CALIFORNIA: Alan Hamel did not seek professional help even after it became clear that wife Suzanne Somers would not survive long, report said.

The Canadian producer stopped himself from dialing 911 even after his wife “wasn’t responding and she wasn’t eating and she wasn’t taking her meds” because Somers “did not want to go to a hospital,” NBC News reported.

The two had a loveable marriage but it entered a challenging phase in 2000 when the ‘Zuma Beach’ star was diagnosed with breast cancer.

‘Alan has been by my side every step of the way’

Her on-and-off fight with the deadly disease continued for years before Somers shared, “Since I have been taking time off from work, many of you have asked for more details about my health. As you know, I had breast cancer two decades ago, and every now and then it pops up again, and I continue to bat it down.”

She continued, “I have used the best alternative and conventional treatments to combat it. This is not new territory for me. I know how to put on my battle gear and I’m a fighter. Alan has been by my side every step of the way.”

“I can’t even explain how much he has done for me. If it’s even possible, we are even closer than ever,” the late actress added.
