Billionaire Oprah Winfrey couldn't believe a fan saying $100 is too much to spend on a holiday gift

Considering Oprah's humble beginnings many expected her to understand the man's issue.

Christmas is one of those times when people spend priceless moments with family and friends while exchanging gifts. Oprah Winfrey is undoubtedly one of the most popular people today. Her journey to the top is inspirational, to say the least, as she was born into a humble family, which convinced fans that she can relate to struggles of common people according to a Market Realist report. However, a recent video in TikTok might have disappointed some, as the popular talk show host seemed surprised that $100 was beyond someone’s budget for a Christmas present.

The video was shared by 10G Deals (@10gsocial) on TikTok and has received more than 65,000 likes. Winfrey could be seen in the video surrounded by cameras and security. Fans swarmed the popular TV star and one of them managed to catch her attention with an important question.

“Favorite gift for my mom, she’s not doing well,” the man asked as Winfrey put her thinking cap on. “A wonderful thing is that jewelry box that I had on favorite things. A beautiful red jewelry box with a little…” The fan cut her off and stated that it was too expensive for him. Winfrey tried to reassure him that it wasn’t since the jewelry box could be purchased at "a hundred something."

However, the man responded saying, “A little lower in my price budget.” Winfrey seemed a little taken aback by this admission and that’s what a lot of fans took issue with. “She was SHOOK that $100 was too expensive. ‘Do they even make things that cost less than $100?’” one user named Stephanie commented on TikTok. “The judgment when he said $100 was too expensive,” quipped another user named Not a Horse.

It’s not like the popular TV personality just gave up when she heard that $100 was too expensive for the man. She did have another idea as the man wanted a sentimental present for his mother. “Okay, then this is a perfect gift for your mom. You do a list of your top ten reasons why you love her and you make a beautiful card and it’s your top ten,” she suggested.

While some people believed that Oprah was out of touch with the issues and troubles of the common man, many others came to her defense. “Oprah is a billionaire but she gave a gift suggestion that’s $100 .. but y’all saying she’s out of touch lol,” one user called TastebudCT commented. “I think Oprah handled this and answered this very well,” Aries quipped.

The man loved the idea. “That’s perfect,” he said. “And it’s sentimental, right?” he asked, and Oprah responded by reassuring him. All the criticism aside, in the end, Oprah did give the man a perfect gift suggestion within his budget for his mother.
