Blake Shelton brings 6-year-old boy in need of heart transplant on stage for duet and it's beautiful
Blake Shelton, the country music singer, had a very special duet on Saturday. At his concert in Durant, Oklahoma, he invited Wyatt McKee to join him on stage for a version of God's Country, reports PEOPLE. Harley McKee, Wyatt's mother, shared a video of this wonderful moment on Facebook. The 6-year-old has hypoplastic left heart syndrome, which is "a birth defect that affects normal blood flow through the heart," per CDC. In the video, Shelton read the sign held by the child that read, "Your smallest, biggest fan from Lake Texoma, 6 years old waiting on a heart transplant." He then asked Wyatt if he would sing God's Country with him.
The singer then addressed the audience saying, "Think y'all are having a bad day? Put that in perspective right there, man," referring to the child's heart condition in which the left side of the heart is underdeveloped. The two then began singing the song together, and after a few minutes, Wyatt returned to his seat with applause from the audience. Shelton can be heard saying, "Y'all give a big hand for my friend Wyatt!"
Shelton also retweeted a clip from the video and wrote, "This little buddy made my night. Thank you for singing "God's Country" with me Wyatt!"
The child's mother was extremely overwhelmed and grateful to the 45-year-old singer. She wrote in the caption of the video, "I don’t know if Blake Shelton will ever see this but I just want to let him know he is awesome and officially my favorite person he absolutely made Wyatt’s day thank you so much to him." She added, "Everyone who stopped us to tell him how great he was on stage and told him they are praying for him!!! Definitely a night to remember!!! #WyattStrong," expressing her thanks to the audience.

Harley told Music Mayhem that Wyatt was extremely happy after his duet with Shelton. She said that Wyatt required three operations, the first when he was five days old, the second at six months, and the third at three years. However, his heart was “too sick” to get the third surgery. But he was added to a transplant list. The 6-year-old is still awaiting a heart transplant and has been for about a year. Even when he was sharing the stage with his idol, Wyatt had a Spiderman backpack that contained medicine meant to go be administered continuously through IV to his arm.
Shelton's song, God's Country, has kept the child strong throughout everything that he has gone through at such a young age, according to his mother. “He just came home one day and just kept yelling to play ‘God’s Country,’ ‘God’s Country,’ and for a couple of years now, anytime we get in the car, we got to play God’s Country all the time,” Harley added.
