When the time came, a daughter created the most memorable moment in her wedding ceremony with her father. Hailing from Adelaide, Australia, Georgia Reid, who goes by @georgiaoryan on TikTok, danced off to an iconic movie scene from the 1990s. During the father-daughter dance, Reid and her father, David O’Ryan, 58, recreated the twist dance routine between John Travolta and Uma Thurman in Quentin Tarantino’s Pulp Fiction. The heartwarming minute from the daughter’s big day captured hearts, viewed 3.5 million times, becoming the bride’s most popular video on TikTok.

At dusk, Chuck Berry’s You Never Can Tell illuminated the ceremony as the father-daughter duo stepped on stage to perform. Seconds later, they put up a brilliant show with their fun grooves and dance routine reminiscent of the legendary movie scene, often marked as a striking moment in the cult classic. Reid and O’Ryan did not shy away from copying the steps while adding a flair of their own to the twist contest scene. The remarkable performance spoke about the close-knit bond between the father and daughter. Reid revealed that Quentin Tarantino films were a part of their childhood since both she and her father were fans of his work.

"Dad and I are quite unserious people, and he brought me up watching Quentin Tarantino films, with Pulp Fiction being one of both of our favorite movies of all time," the bride shared with Newsweek. While the dance composition was a tough one, Reid and her dad had agreed that they would prioritize fun over perfection. "We were stoked because it didn't need to be perfect, we just had so much fun, and it's a memory we will cherish forever. Our guests loved it and it brought so much joy, especially for my nan who flew out from England for our wedding, as well as a lot of other international guests."

However, Reid made sure to mention that she and her dad had not gotten in many rehearsals, only twice, leading up to the wedding. Moreover, they lived 45 minutes away from each other, so it was far from feasible to practice often. What remained integral was their fandom of the movie. “The rehearsal process was pretty pathetic! We had seen the movie so much that it was quite easy to pick up, and we practiced at home alone to the movie and I sent dad a video of me doing it so he could ensure we were doing the right parts,” explained Reid, who married Jaydan Reid, 30, on January 18, at Mandalay House in South Australia.

Hence, the unpredictability of it made it more worthwhile. The 2-minute clip received 271,000 likes and messages of love and blessings from thousands of people. “Father Daughter Dance- you don’t know the facts until you know the fiction,” the post was captioned. “Brilliant, absolute class. So much better than the usual cringe novelty dances you see these days at weddings,” wrote @ajhendry while @hurtemhorns cheered, “Someone finally did it!”
