Bride reads out cheating fiance's texts instead of vows — leaving everyone in the crowd stunned

Like any bride-to-be, she was enjoying every moment that was leading to the day.

Much like any young person in love, Casey was looking forward to starting her life with her partner, Alex, with whom she was madly in love.

Like any bride-to-be, she was enjoying every moment that was leading to the day. She had a great bunch of friends and family who wished her well. Being a girl who trusted her man with all her heart, she believed that the love story that began six years ago would culminate to a beautiful ceremony.

Considering how their journey had been pretty smooth from the first day they met, she had no reason to think otherwise. Their families, too, were good to each other, which made "happily ever after" more possible, according to Whimn.

But what was supposed to be the happiest day of her life turned in her worst nightmare when she received a series of messages on her phone from an unknown number, a day before the wedding.

She was having a ball hanging out with her girlfriends at the hotel room, laughing and joking about pending nuptials when her phone started to buzz. Casey looked at the phone and found screenshots of intimate messages between Alex and another woman. There were also selfies of the pair sent to her by the stranger. The worst part? The texts were dated from months before to just days before the wedding!

"This weekend. You and I. It is on, hot stuff. Bring your A game," one read.

"Your body is f*cking incredible. And shit do you know how to use it. I wish my GF had half the skills you do," read another.

"I miss you so much. I can't stop thinking about L, S, F'ing you. I've never had this kind of connection before."

“I wouldn’t marry him. Will you?” the last message read.

Casey's heart stopped beating for a moment, she couldn't believe what she saw. It took her time to process what this actually meant, and what it meant to her a day before the wedding. "Every word like a dagger in my heart and my wedding was only hours away," Casey shared. "How could I cancel when everyone had already traveled to be there and everything was paid for?"

When her friends heard the story, they were enraged. Like true friends are, they were fiercely protective of their dear friend, who turned from a giggling, glowing, bride-to-be to a completely shattered woman within a few seconds. "I burst into shamed and broken tears," Casey recalled. "My girls were threatening all manner of violence against him. They insisted I call him immediately and call the wedding off," reports Cafe Mom.

However, she decided to not act immediately. Not only was she too shocked to process the news, but she was still in love with the man she was to marry the next day. Or the man she thought he was. So as a wise girl, she decided to go to bed and think through it after some sleep. Although, it wasn't surprising that sleep evaded her.

"Eventually, we tried to go to bed. I didn’t sleep a wink and when dawn finally broke I awoke the girls and told them my decision—I was going to go ahead with the wedding as expected, and ‘out’ him in front of our friends and family," she said.

She arrived at her venue decked up in her wedding dress looking fabulous. Absolutely no one but her close friends knew the storm she was carrying within.

"There will be no wedding today," Casey said in front of her friends, family, and stunned fiance. "It seems Alex is not who I thought he is." And that is when she shows everyone around why she deserves better than a cheating man. One by one, she read the messages that were shared to her by the stranger.

"A ripple of shock went through the crowd and Alex tried to grab my hands but I put down my flowers to reveal my phone in my hand. I read every single message she sent me. With each word, more colour left Alex’s face," reports Whimn.

"With each word, more color left Alex’s face," Casey remembered. "I let my weeping eyes rise and meet his, and he had not one thing to say. He stalked out of the church with his best man trailing behind him. His family looked on, horrified."

"I love all of you and as horrible as this is I’m glad you all are here," Casey told the crowd. "There will not be a wedding reception today, but instead, there will be a celebration of honesty, finding true love, and following your heart even when it hurts."

But what happened next shows people always love a woman who stands up for herself and how strong women always stand up for each other. A guest shared the story on Quora and mentioned that "everyone else attended and had a blast" in the end.

It definitely would not have been easy for Casey to do what she did, but she did teach everyone and more importantly herself a lifetime lesson—there is no love without respect and honesty. Self-love matters more than anything else.
