Dad breaks down after noticing what his daughter and son-in-law created out of his daily texts

Dads are known for sending the most unusual text messages of all time. It’s not their fault, it’s the generational gap. However, sometimes, their kids can make them feel pretty special about those text messages. That’s exactly what TV sports anchor Leah Doherty (@leahgdoherty) did as she made Christmas extra special for her old man. She and her husband got hundreds of the messages her dad sent her during her time as an undergrad and made a picture out of them. At first, he thought it was a simple picture, but when he realized what it was, he could not hold back the waterworks.

The moment was captured and shared on Instagram, garnering more than 11,500 likes. As per Good Morning America, his daughter said, "He would wish us a great day ... and ended every message with, 'make good decisions, I LOVE YOU!!!'" Doherty had saved all those messages over the years; it was her husband, Matt, who turned them into a beautiful work of art. The mosaic was a reimagination of a beloved wedding day photo she and her father took. The moment was undoubtedly emotional, and viewers felt the same way. A lot of them made their feelings known in the comments section of the video on Instagram

“Wow! What an incredible father and daughter, and son in love! How spectacular!” one user commented. “I miss my dad so much,” quipped another, “Crying with a full heart. Much love to the family,” a third user wrote. “What a beautiful gift!” commented another. It’s not just the kids who make dads all around the world feel loved. Sometimes, it can a a four-legged friend as well. When their time comes to leave the world, dads can show that extra bit of love.

Several such moments were captured by TikTok creator Katie Ekin (@katieekin). Her father used to curl up beside their dog as it would lie in one place in its old age. It’s something Gary, the dad, picked up from Chandler, the dog. "My favorite memory is how Chandler showed up for my dogs constantly. When they were younger, they’d play so much, and when my dog Mowgli was sick, Chandler wouldn’t leave his side. I’d always find them curled up together. He was such a source of comfort,” Katie said. Over time, Gary and Chandler developed a special bond that lasted for at least one lifetime.
@katieekin We love you, Chandler. Say hi Mowgli for me 🥺💔🌈 #petloss #petgrief #rainbowbridge ♬ goodbye. - 🫀
“We couldn’t leave him on the bed because we were scared he would fall off, so we kept him cozy on his floor bed. Typically, if he sensed us coming in to pet him, he’d get up and start wandering,” Katie said. "But when my dad would go in and lie with him, he stayed asleep and seemed so peaceful—like he was soaking up the moments the same as my dad,” she added. “Lying with them, petting them with tears pouring from your eyes, knowing this will all be gone soon is the most gut-wrenching pain I've ever felt,” one user commented under the video. “It’s like he turned into a little boy. That was his little buddy. You can tell they had a hell of a journey together,” quipped another.
