The only person more nervous than a bride at a wedding is her father. An overwhelmed father, Neil Crossley, made an epic blunder during his daughter’s wedding ceremony, and the internet is still reeling from it. The guests gazed in surprise as the 60-year-old dad started walking the aisle all alone, leaving his daughter, Amy Totty, 30, behind. He was meant to wait for her and escort her to the groom waiting at the altar, but Crossley’s nerves seemed to have gotten to him. His honest mistake was, however, cherished by the couple and the guests.

The wedding at Holmfirth Vineyards was a pristine affair until Crossley’s hilarious fumble left everyone in the room cracking up. In a video shared by BBC (@BBC) on YouTube, the father is seen walking up to the aisle. While everyone hoped he would stop and wait,  a nervous Crossley proceeded to move towards the altar, retaining his smile. He had almost reached the altar where his son-in-law, Harry Totty, 29, was waiting for the bride. The father did not realize his mistake until a staff member paced up with him and reminded him about his daughter with a nudge. A sight worth watching.

The poor father frantically looked around and eventually realized his blunder. A loud, unanimous laugh followed as he retraced his steps to the top of the aisle. Harry, who was initially emotional, burst into laughter, wiping his tears away with a tissue. Meanwhile, the bride finally found the aisle and held her father’s arms with a big smile. Crossley seemed to have simply shrugged it off. According to The Sun, the fumble happened due to a miscommunication between Crossley and a venue staff member. “He thought they told him to walk when they had actually said wait for me!" said Amy, who works as a nurse in Yorkshire.

However, no one at the wedding was critical about the father’s fumble, rather, it became a wholesome memory for the couple to cherish forever. “It was just perfect timing as he made me, my husband, and all our lovely friends and family laugh. I especially appreciated it as I was trying very hard not to cry, and he helped me compose myself,” the daughter said, per Tyla. She noted it made her wedding even more memorable. Amy had been struggling to keep herself composed and not cry at the wedding, and thankfully, her father’s feat helped her divert from the intense emotions she was feeling at the moment.

On the other hand, Crossley, who works as a teacher, embraced his mistake with humor. "After the initial fumble, it just felt very funny to everyone, including myself.” He decided to sneak the blunder into his ‘Father of the Bride’ speech at the reception, and no wonder, it was a hit. He added, "The joke I made about the guests thinking I was at the wrong wedding got a huge laugh, so everyone took it in good spirits."
