Being a father is not easy. If you don’t believe it, ask TikTok user Tori Konieczkowski (@toriialexandra) who witnessed a hilarious sight following her husband’s attempt to put their 7-month-old baby down to sleep. In a viral video, the mom explained what went down moments later with camera footage and a note that revealed the hilariously futile attempts of the father. Simultaneously, the internet joined in to laugh at the scene while some viewers related to the mother’s viewpoint. Konieczkowski was working peacefully in her room when she heard her baby yelling from the other room. She quickly turned on the baby camera to check and could not hold her laugh at what he saw.

Apparently, her husband Matt had decided that he would put their baby down to sleep before he left for work, but it was from what he had expected. She wrote in the overlay text, “The other day my husband said he was going to try to put the baby down for a nap before he left for work…a couple of mins later I heard her shrieking so I turned the camera on. There was no nap in sight.” The well-meaning father clearly failed at his attempts and struggled to calm down the baby. As he tried to cradle the child, the latter kicked their feet up in the air playfully. It seemed as if the baby did not want to sleep while the father kept trying, the mother, however, had a memory worth cherishing.

Many others in the comments related to the mom while others joked about the baby’s tantrums. “As a mother, once you see those legs start kicking, you just know your baby ain’t going to sleep,” wrote a person (@namexxx3664) while someone else (@icaraserik) noted, “No nap, a revolution.” A third user (@swagartistry) joked, “Legends say he is still trying to get baby down for a nap.” A rather kind commenter (@sunfire1997) suggested, “Buy dad one of those front child carriers. My siblings wouldn't nap but as soon as I picked them up they were out like a light.” Another person (@_kiewis) quipped, “She said now you're about to see why mom can’t get me down.”

In an interview with Newsweek, Konieczkowski shared that she generally works from home. The viral moment unraveled as Matt passed by her office with their daughter to put her for a nap. “He leaves for work in the afternoon, so he wanted her to be well rested for when the babysitter takes over,” she revealed. Matt was handing her the pacifier but the baby took it as a cue to play with him, laughing, doing everything but sleep. "My husband suspected she was tired, so he attempted to put her down only for her to quickly prove him wrong. Hence the kicking and laughing." The mother then noted that parents often think that they know their kids from head to toe but they “always” find ways to surprise them with their unpredictable habits.

Dr. Claire McCarthy, a senior faculty editor at Harvard Health Publishing, recommended that routine is important for babies to nap. Hence, parents must set a timetable for the baby to sleep that would actually inculcate healthy sleeping patterns also adding to their healthy functioning.
