David Beckham kisses 12-year-old daughter Harper's lips, splits Internet over appropriate 'dad' behavior

PARIS, FRANCE: David Beckham has recently received a lot of attention online after sharing a video of him with his 12-year-old daughter on Instagram.

The social media clip showed the former footballer having a great time with Harper as she puts makeup on her dad. 

Eventually, the 48-year-old also kissed his daughter affectionately on the lips.

The duo was getting ready for Victoria Beckham’s Paris Fashion Week show, The Independent reported. The caption of the post was “My little makeup artist is good & has a great playlist 🎶 @taylorswift... We are on our way mummy @victoriabeckham ❤️.”

What did fans say about the video?

The video got nearly 600k likes along with numerous comments. While many got emotional to see the bond between the father and daughter, there were some who took offense at seeing David kissing his child on the lips.

A fan said, “Absolutely heart-melting to watch. What a superb father and role model ❤️.”

Another fan commented, “She is definitely the most beautiful and the sweetest. You will always be proud of her ❤️.”

The third one shared, “Love watching you and your family! When I was around that age I did my school project on David Beckham. I wrote a journal from your perspective, and since it was during your time at AC Milan, I wrote portions of it in Italian. I was in 4th grade. I’d love to find it. I think my parents held on to it. Cheers to you and your family 🩵.”

The fourth one stated, “I'm melting from love 😐 this relationship is so cute!”

But a few not-so-nice remarks peppered the comments section too. One read, “Beautiful daddy-daughter bond but a kiss on the lips doesn’t look right. She is a young lady now not a toddler" and “All right, you'll be a good person, dear, whatever you want, but kissing in the mouth with your children is not allowed. It's my point of view."

A user added, “You’re supposed to be setting a good example to your daughter. She is going to grow up thinking men are pure wet wipes. Makeup on a 45-year-old bloke. You might as well dress like Sam Smith.”

David Beckham said he’s ‘very affectionate with the kids’

However, this was not the first time David’s love for his kid has attracted mixed reactions from people.

In 2017, when he posted a photo with Harper, which showed him again kissing her on the lips, many people deemed it inappropriate.

“You should never kiss the children in the mouth because that is pribatica for couples because if that creature loves his father will never forget that and in eldia tomorrow when he has a partner will think that he is kissing his father and there no there will be emotion or passion of a partner but only emotion of a father,” a person wrote.

Another one said, “Children don't kiss in the mouth... this is pedophilic sick.”

But David took a stand against those mean comments and said at the time, “Brooklyn, maybe not. Brooklyn’s 18, he might find that a little bit strange. 

“But I’m very affectionate with the kids. It’s how I was brought up and [wife Victoria Beckham], and it’s how we are with our children.”

He added, “We want to show our kids love and we protect them, look after them, and support them, and we’re very affectionate with them. Having children is the most special thing in the world.”
