Dick Van Dyke, 97, spotted in wheelchair with his wife at Disneyland months after near-fatal accident

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Veteran actor Dick Van Dyke was reportedly seen at Disneyland on a date with his wife of over ten years.

The 97-year-old was sitting in a wheelchair, operated by a helper, and was accompanied by his makeup artist wife, Arlene Silver, on the Monday outing, October 2, RadarOnline.com reported.

Dyke wore a blue long-sleeve shirt paired with joggers, and a baseball cap for the outing at one of the most fun places in the world. The 57-year-old Silver chose a Haunted Mansion shirt, trousers, and a pair of shades.

Dick Van Dyke said the accident ‘made me a little dumber’

This comes months after the ‘Diagnosis: Murder’ actor was involved in a near-fatal car accident.

Following the crash, he said, as per Fox News, “The airbags did not deploy, so I just did a face plant right in the steering wheel.”

At the time, he also shared that he had “two stitches” on his lower lip. “Other than that, just made me a little dumber, I guess,” he added.

Reports also said that the incident forced Silver to put a ban on the ‘Mary Poppins’ star driving on roads.

“Dick's gotten to the point where he needs to be taken off the road — for his own safety and the safety of others,” a tipster shared.

They said, “Arlene is terrified if she doesn't take the keys away now, it may be too late! He's aware of his age, but he's determined to maintain his independence.”

Another insider added Dyke thinks that “everyone needs to leave him to enjoy the time he has left however he wants.”

Meanwhile, Dyke’s Disneyland outing received some attention online as a user tweeted, “Dick Van Dyke at Walt & Roy's apartment in Disneyland above Pirates of Carribean. Very fitting and deserved. #legend.”

The third user added, “I actually can’t believe Dick Van Dyke was at Disneyland today when I literally went yesterday and I have always said he’s the number one person I want to meet 😭😭I actually cannot believe. I actually remember telling my friend at Disneyland how much I want to meet him.”
