Dying mom had a selfless last wish for her family — her daughter fulfills it with an epic sendoff

In a heartbreaking story that is currently going viral across social media platforms, a dying mother, Rebecca Creager Deatherage, expressed her final wish, not for herself, but for her young daughter, Kristi Johnson (@kristidjohnson). Even while Deatherage was in hospice, she wanted to care for her daughter one last time. As reported by Motherly, in the TikTok video, we get glimpses of Deatherage doing the household chores at her daughter's home. The text on the video said, “When my mom was dying of cancer, she asked ONE thing of me…She asked me to go ahead and schedule my knee surgery… so she’d still be here to take care of me.” Despite being in pain, Deatherage cooked, cleaned, and was always beside her daughter as she underwent surgery. Her love for her close ones was also laid bare in her request not to give her a traditional farewell when she died. She wanted them to arrange a party for her after she was gone.

Further in the video, Johnson showed how they decorated the event hall with her mother's artwork and photos. She wrote, "I used all my mom's recipes and made all her favorite foods she was known for." Johnson also stated, "She taught us to care for others... Hope we are making her proud." As the video went viral, several social media users took to the comment section to share their views. One TikTok user, @glynisjones7, commented, “Mommas are gonna be mommas. One of the strongest bonds to ever exist. She wanted to make sure you would be ok. It gave her peace.”
