Relatives of the 'Desperate Housewives' star claim that Longoria was "deeply concerned" about her ex-husband following his arrest for public intoxication in May, as reported by Radar Online.

After falling asleep on the ground due to alleged heavy drinking, Christopher was apprehended on May 26 at the Hollywood Burbank Airport.

At the time, police declared the former soap opera star was "unable to care for himself." According to a close friend of Longoria's, the actress hardly recognized her ex-husband after his arrest. The couple were married from 2002 to 2004.

It is also said that Longoria made an offer to support her ex in the midst of his drinking problems, even offering to pay for his treatment.

Longoria offered to pay for Tyler's rehab

A source said, “She would give Tyler any help he needs, including paying for a trip to rehab." Another source said that having support "meant a lot to Tyler” and that he “needed a friend” at the time.

The deceased soap opera star spent his 47th birthday in jail after being arrested for public intoxication in Indiana in 2019. During that incident, Christopher's Uber driver called the police, reporting that the actor had passed out and urinated on himself.

It is reported that in the years preceding his demise, he battled alcoholism and bipolar disorder.

'Tyler was a sweet soul and wonderful friend'

The actor's unexpected death was revealed on social media on Tuesday afternoon by Maurice Benard, Christopher's co-star on 'General Hospital'.

Benard wrote, “It is with great sadness that we share the news of the passing of Tyler Christopher. Tyler passed away this morning following a cardiac event in his San Diego apartment.”

Benard noted, “Tyler was a truly talented individual that lit up the screen in every scene he performed and relished bringing joy to his loyal fans through his acting," the 'General Hospital' co-star continued. "Tyler was a sweet soul and wonderful friend to all of those who knew him.”

He continued, “Tyler was an advocate for better mental health and substance use treatment who openly spoke about his struggles with bipolar depression and alcohol."

“We are beyond devastated by the loss of our dear friend and pray for his children and his father,” Benard added.
