'A group of salty men': Fans defend Taylor Swift after her ad is met with boos at MetLife stadium

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: New York Giants fans erupted in boos when Taylor Swift's image was shown at the MetLife stadium to promote the singer's upcoming concert movie documenting her hugely successful Eras tour.

Swift was at the Meadowlands the day before to watch the Kansas City Chiefs beat the New York Jets, with her new boyfriend Travis Kelce in the winning side.

Given that the Chiefs game on Sunday drew around 27 million viewers and that the NFL briefly updated its Instagram account with the message: "The Chiefs are 2-0 as Swifties," it seems as though the NFL is supporting Swift's game appearances.

Too much Taylor Swift irks football fans

However, after hundreds of negative fan comments, the post was deleted a few hours later.

Award-winning sports writer Jeff Pearlman wrote on Twitter, "In case anyone didn't hear, Taylor Swift was at the game. And NBC made it really annoying."

Fox contributor Tomi Lahren wrote, "The wall-to-wall coverage of Taylor Swift at this game is annoying AF. I don't even like football and I agree it's destroying football. Just enough."

Fans defend Taylor Swift

However, Swifties supported Taylor after the boos in the stadium. One of her fans wrote, "How do you guys think the giants players feel knowing they lost because their fans booed taylor swift."

A different user called it karma and wrote, "NY football giants fans booed a taylor swift ad and proceeded to lose the game 24-3. karma."

Another said, "A group of salty men at MetLife Stadium booed a Taylor Swift ad.—Their team lost 3 - 24 in total score."

Yet another Swiftie wrote, "There are some people who didn’t know how to respond from what it looks like… some are like just sitting their quietly, or laughing as a response of the booing & some participated cus of the crowd mentality mixed responses."

Swift has been very quiet about her relationship with the professional football player so far, but Blake Lively, her actress friend, caught her leaning across to her during the game and apparently whispering, "Look at him."

Kelce, an NFL tight end, is thought to have stayed with his teammates and boarded the Chiefs bus after the game, while Swift is thought to have left the stadium alone, as reported by Daily Mail.

While this was happening, Taylor left for the exclusive New York City club Zero Bond, where she continued the celebration until the wee hours of the morning.
