Being a flight attendant may seem like a glamorous job that mostly involves serving passengers and demonstrating safety protocols. But cabin crew also has to deal with rude passengers as well as those who are unhygienic during flights. Amanda Delarosa, a flight attendant who is also a TikTok influencer, recently posted five important things on the platform that travelers shouldn't do. She highlights how flyers can be more thoughtful, safe, and respectful so that they won't upset the hardworking crew members who are responsible for guaranteeing everyone's safety during the trip.

With eight years of experience, Delarosa is an experienced crew member, as reported by Your Tango. The first thing she shared was "Never go to the bathroom shoeless." The flight attendant said, "Turbulence happens on those dang planes, and it happens when people are peeing. So where do you think that pee goes? On the floor and absorbed into your socks." The smell of an airplane bathroom is a clear sign that it's a place best avoided for any unnecessary contact. Another point she mentioned was, "Never go to the bathroom while the seatbelt sign is on."

Delarosa pointed out that there's a good reason flight crews give you a hard time when you do this. She said, "Legally, we have to let you know that the seatbelt sign's on, because if you get in there and we hit a bump and you bust your [backside] because of turbulence, we told you so, you can't sue us." However, she did clarify that if it’s an emergency and you’re about to have an accident, feel free to go ahead. She further told people never to press the call button just to give garbage or cause trouble for the flight attendants. Delarosa said, "If you're paying attention, the flight attendants are usually walking the aisles pretty frequently with garbage bags. So just wait. We'll be back to get your garbage."

According to reports, flight crews have designated times to collect passengers' trash during the flight. Furthermore, Delarosa also mentioned that it's the crew's responsibility not to let anyone board if they appear to be intoxicated. She said, "We've all had those delays where you go to the bar and you have a couple of drinks, which is fine. Just don't overdo it because we might be putting you on the next flight instead." The fifth piece of advice was to never fight, especially with cabin crew, as this could have major legal repercussions, including being kicked off the flight, being escorted by police, or even being blacklisted, which would prevent a person from flying again.

There are some other crucial reminders in addition to these suggestions. One of them is not to bring hand luggage which is heavier than the weight allowed. As reported by BuzzFeed, even though many tourists find carry-on luggage more convenient, it's important to adhere to the weight and size restrictions. Even if the number of frequent travelers has increased, their knowledge of air travel still falls short when compared to that of flight attendants.
