Flight attendant reveals why you should never wear shorts on the plane: "You're gonna have..."

Boarding a flight is just something people do on a regular basis and a dress code for that is the last thing to cross a traveler's mind. Although people may pack clothes according to warm or cold climates at their destination, they don't think too much about how they look on flights. However, a flyer's top concern is always comfort, especially on those long trips. This is why it's surprising that a flight attendant has advised passengers against wearing skirts or shorts while traveling, even though they seem comfortable.

Flight attendant Tommy Cimato shared his top five travel etiquette tips on TikTok, where he goes by the handle @tommycimato, giving followers an insider’s guide to flying in style. As reported by Unilad, he said, "Don't or try not to wear shorts when you're on an airplane. It's the same thing as the window, you never know how clean it's gonna be, so if you have pants, you're gonna have less germs." The flight attendant went on to share more things to keep in mind while flying. He said, "Do not ever touch the flush button with your bare hands. It's honestly just super unsanitary and pretty gross, so when you flush, use a napkin or tissue that's in the lavatory."

Cimato continued, "Don't forget to drink water. Stay hydrated. You wanna have about 16oz for every flight you go on, so keep that in mind." He went on to suggest, "Do not fall asleep or lean your head on the window. You are not the only that has done that and you don't know how many people or children have wiped their hands or other things all over the window. Don't feel afraid to let a flight attendant know if you're feeling sick. So if you need food, water, or an air sickness bag, please feel free to let us know." In addition to that, the flight attendant cautioned passengers against sleeping or leaning on the window during the flight.
wearing shorts or short sleeves on a plane is crazy work I refuse to let my skin touch the seat

Similarly, another flight attendant provided an important reason for not wearing short sleeves when flying. American Airlines crew member Andrea Fischbach warned passengers about a safety risk that could lead to significant harm. According to Fischbach, emergency slides are not at all enjoyable; the descent is painful, and the landing is not at all smooth. The flight attendant said, "The more you cover the surface of your skin, the more protection for your largest organ." As reported by The Sun, it was also explained why flyers should keep tight clothing packed away in their suitcases while flying.
According to Fischbach, swelling is a common problem during flights, and wearing tight clothes, such as jeans or leggings, might hinder blood flow, especially if people are not moving around. This increases the risk of DVT (Deep Vein Thrombosis), a serious disorder where a blood clot forms in the veins, which is especially alarming for regular travelers or those who take long flights. Additionally, Fischbach advised avoiding wearing high heels when flying. Apart from being impractical for hurrying between gates, passengers would have to take off their heels in the event of an emergency requiring an evacuation via slides.
