LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Gayle King has defended Oprah Winfrey in the wake of Cindy Crawford's criticism. The CBS News broadcast journalist said she is "disappointed" that the model chose to criticize her close friend on 'The Super Models' show on Apple TV+.
At the Albie Awards, the 68-year-old gave her opinion to Entertainment Tonight, "I haven't seen it, and I want to see it, but I'm surprised and a little disappointed."

She shared, "Because I know Cindy's been on her show many, many, many times and it has always been a pleasant experience, [so] I would hate to think that something that happened years ago [could have bothered her]."

Gayle admitted that she wasn't sure what happened during Oprah and Cindy's interview, but she insisted that "it's not Oprah's thing to humiliate or make anybody feel bad." Gayle continued, "I have to see it, but, as far as I know, everything is good between Oprah and Cindy."

Oprah was heard introducing the then-20-year-old actress, asking, "Did she always have this body? Stand up just a moment, now this is what I call a BODY."
Before complying, Cindy flashed a tense smile. She then stood up so that everyone in the studio and viewers at home could get a better view of her body.

Cindy reflected on the situation and said on 'The Super Models' that she felt like "chattel or a child, to be seen and not heard. Looking at it through modern eyes, Oprah would say, 'Stand up and show me your body. Show us why you're worthy of being here.'"
The mother of Kaia Gerber continued, "In the moment I didn't recognize it... Watching it back I was like, 'Oh my gosh, that was so not okay really.' Especially from Oprah!"
