'He still knows who I am': Tallulah reveals dad Bruce Willis still recognizes family amid dementia battle

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Tallulah Willis, Bruce Willis' daughter, claims that despite his dementia struggles, the 'Die Hard' actor "lights up" when his family members enter his room.

The 29-year-old actress talked about how challenging it was to deal with her father's health issues and the unflinching realities she had to confront.

Frontotemporal dementia, a rare type of disease that affects behavior and language, affects the 68-year-old retired actor. It is the result of brain damage to neurons in the frontal and temporal lobes.

Tallulah, Bruce's 29-year-old daughter with ex Demi Moore, has now revealed more about his medical condition, spoken about her own struggles, and informed readers about the symptoms and realities of FTD.

Talluah revealed in a vulnerable essay published in British Vogue that, despite his memory issues, her father still smiles when she walks through the door.

She penned, "He still knows who I am and lights up when I enter the room. (He may always know who I am, give or take the occasional bad day. One difference between FTD and Alzeimer’s dementia is that, at least early in the disease, the former is characterised by language and motor deficits, while the latter features more memory loss.)"

Tallulah Willis says, 'I keep flipping between the present and the past'

She continues by saying that because her father has changed because of his condition, she is never sure whether to speak about him in the past or the present tense.

She confessed: "I keep flipping between the present and the past when I talk about Bruce: he is, he was, he is, he was. That’s because I have hopes for my father that I’m so reluctant to let go of."

Tallulah claims given more time, they would make "such good friends."

Tallulah claims that she and her father are very similar. She called her well-known father "cool and charming, slick and stylish, sweet and a little wacky."

Since his diagnosis, Tallulah has shared numerous instances of her acceptance of her father's health journey, such as realizing that he won't be present on the day of her wedding and saving every voicemail from him to cherish every remaining memory of her father, as reported by Mirror.
