The host of 'The Kelly Clarkson Show' revealed which state she was initially thinking of relocating to before choosing New York. She added, "I really wanted to be in Montana, but you can’t really do a show from there quite yet. So I was like, ‘The only other option would probably be New York," as reported by Fox News.

The Grammy-winning singer's daytime program was moved to the East Coast for its fifth season because her studio is at 30 Rockefeller Plaza. Clarkson said, "At this point, I’m 40 years old. Mama rented something nice!". She added, "I was like, ‘I’m not living here unless it’s right by the park and really nice for the kids."

The mother of two moved following her split from Brandon Blackstock. After seven years of marriage, Blackstock filed for divorce from Clarkson in 2020. River Rose and Remy are their two shared children.

The 'Because of You' singer said that part of her decision to leave Los Angeles was due to the split. She also said that now that her divorce is over, she is happier than she has been in a long time.

Clarkson shared with USA Today, "… full disclosure, I put on a smile a lot of those times because I was struggling a lot in my personal life."

She added, "I've learned a lot about what I'm capable of handling, and also what you should not handle. That was me saying 'bye' to 'The Voice' and having this big move. I love that family, but I was like, 'I'm struggling. I can't smile anymore. I don't feel like smiling."

Clarkson was a part of the music competition program for nine seasons. Before taking a short hiatus and coming back for Season 23, she made appearances in Seasons 14 through 21.
