During their first meeting, Streisand reportedly asked her now-husband, "Who f---ed up your hair?" because he had just shaved his hair for a role.
Vanity Fair reported that Brolin was not offended by her question and that the two spent the rest of the evening together. The two first met at a dinner party with mutual friends, which included Streisand's ex-boyfriend Jon Peters.
Barbra Streisand and Brolin were 'set up as a blind date'

Streisand said in a 2021 appearance on 'The Tonight Show', "We were set up as a blind date, and I was so shy that I came into the house and I went downstairs to be with the children and play with them until I had to sit down at the table."
During that appearance, she was also critical of Brolin's hair, telling host Jimmy Fallon, "I expected a guy with a brown beard and brown, wavy hair, like a mountain man."
"And I saw a guy with no beard and all his hair cut off. And I passed him. 'Who f---ed up your hair?' I asked, running my hand through it," she went on.
