'In the Fire' director Conor Allyn praises Amber Heard for being a 'dedicated' mother to Oonagh Paige, 2

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Conor Allyn, Amber Heard's 'In the Fire' director, recalled how the actress always prioritized her daughter while filming.

Allyn told People, "Amber's such a dedicated mom," and added "she is really good about making the time" for her 2-year-old Oonagh Paige.

Heard took her child to Italy

Allyn claims that Heard, who welcomed her daughter as a single mother in 2021, brought her child to Italy when they shot the 19th-century thriller in the spring of 2022.

He quoted Heard, 37, as saying, "'Oonagh's coming with me. I'm going to see her during the day. Yes, I'm going to work a really hard day and I'm totally committed to that. But at lunch, Oonagh's going to join me for an hour and [also] when I'm not shooting."

According to Allyn, Heard's commitment sets her apart from other professionals in the field. He said, "I admire it greatly, particularly in Hollywood where I think generally speaking, I don't want to paint with a broad brush, but generally speaking, whether it's the marriage or the kids that is often forgotten in the heat of making a movie."

Allyn, a married father, claims he felt "jealous" over the time his leading lady got to spend with her child. He said, "I find it more difficult to do that, I'm married, have a wife. She works, but she was willing to support me while I'm chasing my dreams in Italy. She [was] here [in the US] with all three kids and I couldn't spend that kind of time [with them]."

Heard took care of her daughter while also caring for the cast and crew after hours. The 'Aquaman' actress even hosted meals at her temporary residence, according to Allyn.

He said, "We went over to Amber's place and she cooked dinner, It was usually low-key because we were working very hard." Apparently, a "very impressive" mezze platter with hummus and tapas were on the menu.

After long days of filming the tense movie, those evenings were much needed. The film follows American psychiatrist Dr Grace Burnham (Heard), who travels to Colombia to examine a troubled boy who some think is demon-possessed.

Heard, whom Allyn previously told People he considers a "great friend," is currently "finding happiness" in Europe after relocating there following her defeat in her defamation case against her ex-husband Johnny Depp, 60.

Allyn says Heard is 'living her best life in Spain' 

"She's living her best life in Spain with her daughter and just finding happiness in that way," Allyn said of Heard, whose last public appearance was at the Taormina Film Festival in June for the 'In the Fire' premiere.

Allyn, who keeps in regular touch with Heard, said she has "moved on" from the legal ordeal with Depp, but added, "I think people carry trauma for a long time."
