VANCOUVER, CANADA: A self-claimed plus-size travel, fashion, and lifestyle digital creator has urged the hotel industry to make bigger elevators and hallways to accommodate people of all sizes.

Jaelynn Chaney recently took to her TikTok account to share her thoughts and also expressed her desire to see hotels all-size inclusive.

Jaelynn Chaney demands 'environment that respects our needs’

She said, as per The New York Post, that she’s “on a mission to revolutionize the travel industry, and make it a more accessible, accepting, accommodating place for all.”

“The needs of plus-sized travelers matter just as much as anybody else. We deserve an environment that respects our needs and body diversity,” Chaney stated.

Some of her demands included “elevators and hallways [more] spacious, to allow for easy movement of larger individuals, and those utilizing mobility devices.”

In her TikTok video, Chaney continued, “Hotels should provide size-inclusive bathrooms. These should go up to size 6X and beyond,” before saying the hospitality industry workers should receive training “to be respectful, understanding and accommodating to travelers of all sizes.”

The social media influencer wrote in the clip’s caption, “Creating a space where every guest feels valued and comfortable is essential. Size-inclusive hotel amenities are more than just accommodations — they’re a statement of respect for diverse needs and body types.”

She added, “From spacious chairs to thoughtful bathroom facilities, every detail matters. Let’s make travel truly accessible and welcoming for travelers of all sizes and abilities.”

Jaelynn Chaney's demands receive mixed reactions

A person reportedly commented below her post, “I agree this is ideal, but some of these are out of the hotel’s control — lift size for example."

Another said, “I’m backing you 100%.”

A third user commented, “How are you gonna ask for things to change, but refuse to change yourself?”

“It [would] be cheaper to diet," someone else remarked.

Another wrote, “I am fat and I will let no airline or hotel pay for my eating habits.”

“Imagine feeling so entitled to demand that an entire industry accommodate your inability to put down the fork,” a user added.

‘This mistreatment of plus-size passengers is unacceptable’

This comes as, earlier this year, Chaney launched a petition asking “the FAA to Protect Plus-Size Travelers.”

In her request to the Federal Aviation Administration, she wrote, “As plus-size travelers, my partner and I have unfortunately experienced discrimination and discomfort while flying.”

Sharing a personal experience, she stated, “During a flight from Pasco to Denver, my fiancé was subjected to hateful comments, disapproving looks, and even refusal to sit next to them, amounting to discrimination."

“Similarly, on another flight, I was forced to occupy only one seat with immovable armrests that caused me pain and bruises,” she claimed.

Chaney added, “Being forced to occupy only one seat can result in pain and vulnerability to poor treatment from fellow passengers, including hateful comments, disapproving looks, and even refusal to sit next to them. This mistreatment of plus-size passengers is unacceptable.”
