What was Katy Perry’s nickname for Russell Brand?

The 38-year-old singer reportedly nicknamed Brand “Rasputin,” after a known historical figure — that of a Siberian-born Russian 'holy' man, known for his power to seduce, who even influenced the Russian royalty.

Morgan got to know about it while attempting to interview Perry in 2013.

He also said that he discussed the nickname with Brand while interviewing him.

At the time, the 48-year-old alleged rapist, told the 58-year-old journalist, as per The Sun, “I like Rasputin…”

“He was all right, wasn't he... a mad monk with magical, mystical powers, having it off with everyone, drinking and getting into fights,” he added.

However, in 2013 she told Vogue, “At first when I met him he wanted an equal, and I think a lot of times strong men do want an equal, but then they get that equal and they’re like, I can’t handle the equalness.

“He didn’t like the atmosphere of me being the boss on tour. So that was really hurtful, and it was very controlling, which was upsetting,” she had said at the time, around a year after the divorce.

The ‘Roar’ singer had also mentioned, “I felt a lot of responsibility for it ending, but then I found out the real truth, which I can’t necessarily disclose because I keep it locked in my safe for a rainy day.”

She added, “I let go and I was like: This isn’t because of me; this is beyond me. So I have moved on from that.”

When Piers Morgan tried to get Perry to speak about the secrets she was keeping at a Vanity Fair party in Washington DC, nearly a decade ago, she had told him, “'Because you'll get the truth out of me, and I'm just not ready to tell you the truth."

“In fact, I'm not sure I'm ready to admit the truth to myself. You Brits are all the same, so damn confident…,” she added.

“Trouble is, I find that irresistible. I love Brits… Well, not all of them – not Rasputin, obviously,” Perry stated, at the time.
