Kevin Bacon and Kyra Sedgwick celebrate 35 years of marriage by posting adorable throwback photos on anniversary

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Kevin Bacon and Kyra Sedgwick are celebrating 35 years of marriage today, which makes it their "coral anniversary."

Bacon, 65, posted a vintage photo of himself and Sedgwick, 58, on Instagram on Monday, September 4, showing them cuddling on a chair. As Sedgwick grins at the camera, Bacon kisses her forehead.

The 'Footloose' actor wrote in the caption."35 years feels like a heartbeat. #Anniversary."

In the comments, some of the couple's famous friends congratulated Bacon and Sedgwick on their marriage anniversary.

Rita Wilson commented, "You guys! Happy Anniversary! Can you believe it? It goes so fast! We are 35 soon to be 36!"

Sedgwick in her anniversary post alluded to when she met husband Kevin. Posting a photo on Instagram from one of their first meetings, she wrote in the caption, "It was 1987- on the set of 'Lemon Sky' - I met a man named Kevin. Happy 35 my love."

Bacon and Sedgwick are one of Hollywood's enduring couples and have two children — son Travis, 34, and daughter Sosie, who is 31.

Bacon told PEOPLE in March of first meeting Sedgwick, "I was knocked out, I thought she was amazing."

Though Sedgwick was not as taken with Bacon right away, she realized he was "the one" on the day after they went out to dinner on their first date.

She said,"I remember waking up and going, 'I feel like home.' I realized, 'Oh, that was him.'"

In March, Sedgwick stated that one of the secrets to their marriage is their mutual passion in making each other laugh. She said, "A sense of humor is crucial, He is very freaking funny."

Over the years, the couple has even blended their artistic talents, most recently when Sedgwick directed Bacon in the film 'Space Oddity'.

The pair married on September 4, 1988. Bacon wore a checkered suit, while Sedgwick wore a high-necked lace gown with her hair in a delicate updo. Travis was born on June 23, 1989, in Los Angeles to the couple.

Sedgwick later disclosed that their choice to start a family was taken on the spur of the moment during their honeymoon. "We were like, 'Let's just not use birth control,' " she recalled to More magazine in 2010. "I didn't think it was going to happen so fast. I got pregnant in two weeks."

In recent months, Bacon and Sedgwick have shown their support for the ongoing Hollywood actor's strike. The couple appeared together at a picket line in New York City in July, shortly after SAG-AFTRA went on strike on July 13.
