Kevin Costner feels Christine Baumgartner wanted to 'take him to the cleaners' with divorce, source says
Known for being 'ultra-private', a public and messy court battle was apparently 'the last thing' Kevin Costner needed

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: After an acrimonious divorce, Kevin Costner is now questioning his ex-wife's intentions.
After months of disagreement over their prenup, how their belongings would be divided, and how much child support the 'Yellowstone' actor should pay each month, the ex-couple reached a surprisingly quick agreement earlier this month to end their relationship.
Costner feels Baumgartner has been 'trying to make him look bad'
According to a source, the 68-year-old believes Baumgartner was trying to financially ruin him with the divorce. According to OK Magazine, the source said, "He's convinced she's been trying to make him look bad all along."
'Divorce is one of the hardest things' for Costner
The source added, "Without a doubt, Kevin felt Christine was attempting to take him to the cleaners. This divorce is one of the hardest things he's ever been through."
Costner and the handbag designer got married in 2004 and have three children together: Cayden, 16, Hayes, 14, and Grace, 13.
Since Baumgartner filed for divorce in early May, she has contested the terms of their prenuptial agreement, requested more than $150,000 per month in child support to give their children a "comparable" lifestyle to the one they share with their father, petitioned for the actor to pay her legal fees, and at one point, refused to leave the opulent home she shared with Costner, as reported by OK Magazine.
Costner 'resented' having to pay Baumgartner
The 'Tin Cup' star allegedly "resented" having to pay Baumgartner "even a nickel," according to an insider, although they prevailed in a number of court cases.
Currently, after weeks of legal wrangling in court, the source revealed that Costner simply wanted to "stop the madness."

The source explained, "For an ultra-private star like Kevin, who keeps things close to his chest, having personal details about his marriage and lifestyle continue to be aired out in public is the last thing he needed, Kevin made it worth Christine’s while to walk away."
This comes after the father of three revealed that despite their difficulties, he still had "love" for his ex.
He said at the time, "This is a horrible place to be, but this is where we're at. It feels so bad, We're talking about somebody I love on the other side. I just can't."
