Kevin Costner's ex Christine Baumgartner had ‘no choice but to settle’ as she risked 'losing everything'

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Christine Baumgartner could not stretch out the disagreements between her and her ex-husband, Kevin Costner, regarding the divorce settlement because the actor had "all the power,” an insider claimed.

The tipster, as reported by aceshowbiz.com, said that the handbag designer “didn't really have a choice but to settle because Kevin had all the power. Had she continued fighting, she would risk losing everything.”

Christine Baumgartner ‘never wanted any of this circus’

It has been said that it was the 49-year-old mother-of-three “who wanted to settle things outside of court in the first place” for the well-being of her children.

The source shared, “Christine said it is what it is. That she won't miss going to court and having sleepless nights.”

“She said for the kids it's a win because no child wants to go through this, let alone in public,” they stated.

The source also added, “She never wanted any of this circus. It's been a living nightmare and now she just wants to move on and start fresh and begin making her new house a home.”

Kevin Costner reportedly did not want the divorce

This comes after Baumgartner reportedly submitted papers for divorce in May.

Eventually, a statement was released by a representative of the ‘Yellowstone’ star, which read, “It is with great sadness that circumstances beyond his control have transpired which have resulted in Mr. Costner having to participate in a dissolution of marriage action.”

“We ask that his, Christine's, and their children's privacy be respected as they navigate this difficult time,” it added.

Also, an insider told PEOPLE at the time, “It was not anything that [Costner] wanted or sought, and if he could change the situation, he would.”

Kevin Costner adored Christine Baumgartner

Last year, Costner had said of his former spouse, as per PEOPLE, “My wife does things that just completely... It just helps. The house is prettier because of her.”

He added, “Everything is warmer because of her. There's these little things that she does and I think it's the power of love, but that she makes her home that way.”
