‘The audience really embraced that’

This comes as ‘Paw Patrol’ writer-director Cal Brunker and writer Bob Barlen spoke with Screen Rant discussing their movie. They said, “We've had our heads down making this movie for a couple of years in secret, so it's been such a lovely experience to put it out into the world and see the world embrace it.”

Speaking about the sequel, Brunker shared, “After the first movie, one of the things with the first movie was we were kind of seeing how far can we push from the show into a theatrical experience. How intense can we be; how much spectacle can we put on screen?

“And the audience really embraced that, and it felt like it gave us permission to raise the bar even more with the second movie.”

“At that point, it was something that the whole team had been talking about; excited about the idea of really pushing the spectacle in the next movie. And so superpowers became a natural fit, and it's almost like another genre in terms of the conventions that we get to play in,” he stated.

‘I can't speak directly to where we're heading next’

However, the makers did not give a clear idea of where their work would lead in the future.

Brunker added, “I can't speak directly to where we're heading next, but if you look at what they've done with the show over many years, they have this great way of playing with different – I hate to use the word – genres within the show.”
