Loving husband stays with wife in 'sickness and in health' — serenades her before cancer surgery

"I told my pastor and God in front of a lot of people, I’m with her through sickness and health, and this is just a part of that," said the husband.

Watching the one you love suffering from an illness as debilitating as cancer can shatter you, and knowing you can't do much to ease their pain is devastating. But when you love them with everything in you, just being there for them can mean a lot to both of you, and that is what this loving husband did for his wife as she battled brain cancer.

Ray Singleton, 30, understood that at this time when his wife, Roslyn, 37, was in pain and going through turbulent emotions about her diagnosis, she needed some comfort. Especially since this was the second time she was having to deal with brain cancer. According to The Daily Mail, Roslyn was first diagnosed with an aggressive form of brain cancer in 2013. However, she was announced cancer-free in 2016, before she met her husband. By 2018, the two were married and happy. But it didn't last long when in October 2019, the navy veteran was told it had come back.

Since then, she's been dealing with the disease. “I wasn't expecting for it to come back, because I was young, and I was taking care of myself,” she said, according to WSOCTV. “I don’t eat pork. I was, like, ‘I'm doing good.’” But as dreary and painful as it was and still is for her, her husband Ray "makes it OK."

This was proven when before she was scheduled for her second brain surgery, he used his passion for music and serenaded her with his rendition of Grammy-nominated singer Daniel Caesar's Get You. He wanted to encourage her and let her know that things would be fine. In the video that's since gone viral, he can be seen crooning to her as she smiles, showing us just what true love looks like. In the clip, he plays the piano and starts to sing, "Every time I look into your eyes I see it. You're all I need. Every time I get a bit inside I feel it." And as he sings "Ooh, who could've thought I'd get you. Ooh, who would've thought I'd get you," he caresses his wife's face in a heartwarming moment.

This portrayal of love, to no one's surprise, went viral, amassing more than 10,000 views on Instagram and 17 million views total, according to The Daily Mail. After his video went viral, Daniel Caesar's management team also invited them to the international music festival Coachella and a GoFundMe page was set up to help the couple out.

“I was nervous, and I was bored,” he said to WSOCTV. “When she comes out, I don’t know if she’ll be able to see this, but I want to make something for her that will make her smile after having her head cut open. I told my pastor and God in front of a lot of people, I’m with her through sickness and health, and this is just a part of that."

People are lauding his devotion and dedication to his wife. One person commented under the video on Instagram, "Dude the smile you put on her face can be sold all over this world." Another said, "Her smile is radiant. Yall are beyond cute. Simply beautiful. I really love looking at u 2." And they truly are a sight to look at. Ray shows us that love doesn't always have to be shown in words. For him, his love shone through the passion in his voice as he sang to Roslyn while her love came out through her radiating smile. We pray that they get a chance to share that love for decades to come.
