Peter Mutabazi resides in Charlotte, yet he is originally from a different continent. His upbringing was quite difficult and challenging. An unlikely and heartwarming incident happened with him and a child who was abandoned at the hospital. The unlikely hero provided a joyful finish to a sorrowful narrative, per Goal cast. Mutabazi spoke to Fox 48, "I grew up in Uganda. I grew up the poorest of the poorest. I didn’t have a good childhood. I ran away from home and became a street kid."

Mutabazi claimed he didn't discover his calling until someone took him in, someone he didn't even know, and got him into school. He said, "How can I not give back?" while explaining his decision to become a foster parent. Mutabazi said that he decided to foster in 2017 while working and living in Oklahoma. He stated that he strolled into a local organization and announced his desire to help other children. He assumed that because he was single, he would not be disallowed but he was wrong. Mutabazi signed in on the spot and attended the needed lessons. He received his license four months later. He elaborated, "I understand where [these kids] come from. Someone stepped in to help me, and now I’ve adopted my oldest."

He adds, "I have fostered 12 children over the past, almost nearly four years, two children at a time, the most was three. The hardest part was always saying goodbye."

He adopted his son Tony and according to him, it felt destined from the start. Tony had been in the system since he was two years old and was adopted by a couple in Oklahoma when he was four years old. His adoptive parents abandoned him in a hospital when he was just 11. However, in January of 2018, Tony's life completely changed. Mutabazi was contacted by a foster care worker who asked whether he could have Tony for the weekend. During that weekend, he learned Tony's story and decided he wanted to adopt him immediately.

Mutabazi said, "I remember telling him, ‘You can call me Mr. Peter.' And Tony was like, 'Can I call you dad?' " In 2019, the duo relocated from Oklahoma to Charlotte, North Carolina, and on November 12, he legally adopted Tony.

Mutabazi posted a celebratory photograph on Instagram with the caption, "ADOPTED TODAY!!! I was chosen, I was wanted, I was cherished, I grew in his heart, I was the missing piece and I’m loved today despite of my shortcoming. He further added, "Little souls find their way to you, whether they’re from your womb or someone else’s. I found my little/big soul today!” Two weeks later, Mutabazi also formally became a US citizen.

He said while speaking about his son, "He’s 13-years-old, so he thinks he’s 40. He’s a fun kid. He loves to play video games and bike and go places. I travel for work, sometimes I bring him along. He enjoys people. He’s also a reader. He has read more than 500 books. He’s very into Greek mythology.” Mutabazi still wants to continue fostering and hopes to adopt another child and welcome them into his little family.
