'There's never been a woman quite like her': Fans wish Glynis Johns as ‘Mary Poppins’ star turns 100
Glynis Johns says old age 'doesn't make any difference' to her and believes she 'looked very good for every age'

WEST HOLLYWOOD, CALIFORNIA: Glynis Johns, famous for playing Mrs Banks in ‘Mary Poppins’, celebrated her very special birthday on October 5.
The legendary actress turned 100 as she excitedly discussed her glorious career spanning several decades.

Glynis Johns' early career
Johns reportedly began working as a teenager. Her first role was in the movie ‘South Riding', which was released in 1938.
Years later, she was nominated for an Oscar for her work in ‘The Sundowners’. The star also went on to receive a Tony Award for ‘A Little Night Music’.
Johns told ABC7, “I got applause for that. I loved doing it. I felt it.”
Reflecting on her age, she added, “It doesn't make any difference to me. Well, I looked very good for every age."

Glynis Johns’ grandchild says ‘family is immensely proud of her’
This comes as Johns’ grandson, Thomas Forwood, said he believes that his granny should be honored with the British title of a Dame.
He reportedly shared, “I am so delighted that my grandmother is set to make it to this landmark birthday and we send her many congratulations.”
Forwood continued, “Glynis enjoyed a fabulous career over many decades during which she showed her immense talent and versatility in a range of parts on screen and stage."
“Almost everyone will have seen her work and be familiar with her face and voice - she's in so many pieces that people hold dear,” he noted.
“Everyone in the family is immensely proud of her achievements. It would be fitting on this occasion for the UK government to formally acknowledge her cultural contribution by making her a Dame,” he added.
‘Happy birthday Glynis Johns’
Meanwhile, numerous fans of the ‘Miranda’ star took to social media to wish her a very happy birthday.
A user shared, “Happy birthday Glynis Johns, one of my all-time favorite actresses. Be she a mermaid, a suffragette, or sending in those clowns, there’s never been a woman (or a voice) quite like her.”
