Meryl Streep's son Henry Wolfe refused to use her name for his music career but actress stayed supportive
Besides her son Henry, the 74-year-old Meryl Streep also shares three daughters with Don Gummer with whom she tied the knot in 1978
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Meryl Streep is a legend, often called “the best actress of her generation.”
However, the 74-year-old is also known for her strong family ties to her four children and her husband of over 40 years, Don Gummer.
Streep is a mother of three daughters – Louisa Jacobson, Mamie Gummer, and Grace Gummer. All of them have chosen the same path as their famous mother.
But ‘The Devil Wears Prada’ star’s only son, Henry Wolfe, has not chosen acting as his career.
What does Henry Wolfe do?
Wolfe is the eldest child of Streep and Gummer. Initially, he began taking lessons in acting at New York University's Tisch School of the Arts but eventually realized that he loved music more.
During a 2011 interview, the singer-songwriter reportedly said, “For me, music was more stimulating from day to day. It was something that I didn't need to be working on a project to practice.”

He also shared, “I can do it whenever and I get satisfaction from completing songs that I never really got from acting.”
Why did Henry Wolfe not use his mother’s name?
The 43-year-old also refrains from using his mother’s name for his career.
He once reportedly said, “Sometimes I worry that my story isn't good enough.”
“Sure, my mom is part of the story, and I don't get pissed when people ask me about her, but I wish I had something that could eclipse that as far as compelling storylines,” Wolfe added.
But it does not mean that his Academy Award-winning mother is not supportive of his choices.
Wolfe has reportedly asserted that Streep has always been there for him and his decisions.
Henry Wolfe shares one trait of his mother
Like Streep, Wolfe is also a family person, who always keeps his loved ones as his first priority.
The ‘Stop the Train’ singer is a married man, who exchanged vows with his longtime girlfriend Tamryn Storm Hawker in 2019.
The pair had their first child, a daughter Ida June Gummer on July 18, 2020.
In October of that year, Wolfe shared on his social media page, “Hey, long time no see! This is Ida June, the light of my world. She arrived a little over three months ago, courtesy of my fearless beloved @tamrynstorm.”
“I haven’t been around here much since then but I miss you, all my friends. Stay safe, PLEASE VOTE, and see you soon!” he noted.
The couple’s second baby, a son named Quinn William Gummer was born on May 6, 2022. At the time, he posted, “This is the mighty Quinn William Gummer. He was born at home three weeks ago today, May 6th, 2022.”
“A little light in a time of so much darkness… I love you @tamrynstormacupuncture Your strength is mythic. I am so profoundly grateful and proud to be yours!” Wolfe added.
