LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Michael J Fox has fondly remembered Matthew Perry, who lost his life due to apparent drowning.

The ‘Family Ties’ star recently spoke about the generous side of Perry.

Matthew Perry ‘wrote a big fat check to’ Michael J Fox’s foundation

Fox told Entertainment Weekly that after signing the contract for ‘Friends’, the late actor signed a big cheque for his organization, The Michael J Fox Foundation.

He shared, “I hope this isn't indiscreet, but when they first made their big sale and were made millionaires for the rest of their lives, he wrote a big fat check to the foundation.”

The 62-year-old actor continued, “We were really early on and trying to find our feet, and it was such a vote of confidence. And it wasn't accompanied by any self-aggrandizing or anything. He was just like, 'Take it and do your best.' I loved that.’”

Matthew Perry believed Michael J Fox ‘was huge’

This comes almost a year after Perry claimed that Fox was his inspiration to be an actor. The ‘Fools Rush In’ actor reportedly said, “I was young, I had done a couple of plays in school, and Michael J Fox was it, man.”

“When I was in ninth grade, Michael J Fox had just done Back to the Future, and there was smoke coming out of my ears,” he recalled.

Perry then added, “I was so jealous of this guy. And he had, at the time, the No 1 TV show and the No 1 movie at the same time! So he was huge. And I don't know anybody else who's done that.”

Fox also reacted to Perry’s praise as he stated, as reported by ET Online, “He was just a funny guy, and if I was ever as funny as him — I mean, he was the funniest — I'm happy I had an impact on him. He was a funny guy.”

‘We are heartbroken’

Perry was found dead on October 28 at his home in Los Angeles. He struggled with addiction in the past, however, it has not been confirmed yet if he relapsed before his death.

A statement from his family said, “We are heartbroken by the tragic loss of our beloved son and brother. Matthew brought so much joy to the world, both as an actor and a friend.”

It added, “You all meant so much to him and we appreciate the tremendous outpouring of love.”
