Mom films her 'non-picky eater' daughter enjoying slimy oysters — now, many parents want the same

Children are full of surprises. When a mom prayed for a non-picky eater, she did not realize she would be blessed with a daughter who could devour delicacies unconventional for kids. Bruna Fava, who goes by @brufava on TikTok, shared a clip of her daughter enjoying oysters at a restaurant. At only 5 years old, the little girl seems to have developed a refined palate for food. In general, children tend to dislike oysters due to their slimy texture and taste, but Fava’s daughter, Natalie, best be excluded from that lot.

In a viral video with 3.9 million views, the 36-year-old mother flaunted her young daughter’s sophisticated food choices. The overlay text on the video hinted at Fava’s prayers being answered for a “non-picky eater.” She wrote, “Might’ve prayed a little too hard for a non-picky eater because now she goes to restaurants and orders oysters for herself.” The young lady devoured the oysters like an expert, while the internet was in awe of her dining finesse. “Pretty sure I hit the jackpot with this one,” the mom hailed in the caption.

Later, Fava told Newsweek that eating and traveling are staples in their family. Therefore, having kids who are picky eaters would be “fine,” but she had prayed for it to be otherwise. “We should embrace how they are, regardless of their food preferences,” she said. During their trip to Malibu in California, Fava’s baby girl tried oysters for the first time at 3. "I don't think oysters are obscure at all—it's seafood," she explained. Since then, Natalie has tried and loved fancy dishes like sushi, caviar, and tomahawk. Now, Fava and the family are enjoying their daughter’s unique and expensive taste buds.

Her daughter’s feat became the internet’s favorite, collecting about 600,000 hearts and dozens of comments from fellow parents sharing similar experiences. @blaahbish said, “Same here. My son is like, ‘I’m craving lobster.’ Like, sir, you’re 6.” While @ohheyitsmae wrote, “My 8-month-old loves French onion soup and steak. I’m cooked, bro.” “It’s all good until you’ve got 3 asking for sushi nights.

Say goodbye to my retirement,” mused @anadragonfly. Some other people marveled at the kid’s exquisite taste. “She’s got more mature tastebuds than I at 31. Bless her,” wrote @laurenamiexxxx. Someone else (@payton.payton123) predicted, “Adulthood will be hard for her (me) because you always want crab legs or something fun but are forced to eat chicken and rice and ramen ‘cause you’re a broke college student.”

Fava was quick to realize that many parents struggle with picky-eating children. To help them, she created a brand to help mothers like her, called Pixie You. “We are announcing a line of solutions from kids' haircare [and] gadgets to eventually...food making life easier for motherhood today is our drive,” the mom told the outlet. She also noted how TikTok has gotten more real over time as more parents look for relatability in content rather than unrealistic representations of parenting lifestyles.
