News anchor brilliantly reports on her 2-year-old son from outside his room: "After several cries..."

Kids can oftentimes be a nuisance and difficult to control. Parenting is no joke and certainly no child’s play, requiring a great deal of patience and understanding. However, it once got the best of State Capitol Bureau reporter Kayla Sullivan (@kaylareporting), who reported live from her home, talking about her son’s antics in a viral TikTok video. In typical new reporting fashion, the mother narrated why her son was being detained in his bedroom and shared additional views on the trendy parenting styles.

Wearing a bright blue dress and looking polished to go on air, Sullivan fake-reported that her son is “currently being detained until nap time is over.” She then hilariously morphed the matter into a serious incident involving a minor. “This story does involve a minor, so I can’t release specifics,” Sullivan quipped before bombarding viewers with details about the incident that prompted her to make the video. The reporter called her two-year-old son a “terrorist” for holding her hostage and throwing tantrums at the Olive Garden earlier that day.

“It’s important to note the friends I met there do not have children and likely never will after witnessing the situation first hand!” Sullivan said. Explaining that despite proper precautions taken by the authorities, which include bringing his favorite snacks and an iPad, the toddler’s meltdown was inevitable. “But not even Cocomelon could have stopped this meltdown. After several cries demanding, ‘Chet-chup’, a good samaritan waitress miraculously understood it as the English word 'ketchup' and brought him a bottle,” Sullivan revealed.

However, the tantrums did not stop there as the kid flung a fork loaded with ketchup at the waitress who brought him the bottle. The mom joked, “Not all heroes wear capes, but this should have worn an apron.” Sullivan subtly threw shade on the currently emerging trend of “gentle parenting,” suggesting that it is becoming increasingly difficult to deal with the intense toddler outbursts. “I’ll keep trying…back to you”, she concluded. A whopping 37.9 million followers tuned in to watch Sullivan parody her own news reporting to vent about her toddler tantrums. The stunt was a hit, receiving loads of comments from the internet.
“This is so great! News reporter with toddler tales hahaha,” wrote an internet user (@letsdatelikewedidbefore) while another one (@darksider807) recalled, “Love these clips, my children are adults now but boy I can still relate to your parenting issues that I suffered yesteryear.” “Wait until he’s 3. It’s a war zone out here,” warned a fellow TikTok user (@kbizzle812). Someone else (@mrjohnchambers) marked, “Please make more of these, OMG you are the best reporter ever witnessed in my life! We are crying!” An enthusiastic viewer (@tankmafia) said, “Ok, this was the funniest thing I have watched today.”

While Sullivan, who works on newscasts throughout the week in Indiana and an Emmy-winning program, IN Focus, has made similar fake reporting attempts on other occasions, this video remains one of her finest pieces of comedy. In other news, there is a popular opinion that two-year-olds are extremely annoying and exhausting to parents. “Terrible twos,” as you may have heard. According to the Ark Group, this is because toddlers are curious, active, and constantly learning new things, which may make it difficult to control and discipline them.
