Ohio cops blame 11-year-old girl for being groomed by online predator, tell her dad she could be charged

COLUMBUS, OHIO: Two police officers are facing an investigation after a social media video showed them allegedly mishandling a child grooming case.

The date of the incident is not known but the two cops — a man and a woman — arrived at a man’s house at midnight after being contacted at nearly six in the evening, The Metro reported.

The exchange between the officers and the man was reportedly caught on a doorbell camera.

Why did the Ohio dad call the cops?

The unnamed man called the police after he found that his 11-year-old daughter was reportedly influenced online by an unidentified predator, who compelled her to send nude photos.

The footage showed him telling officers, “I just wanted you guys to come over and talk to her. I just want her to realize what this was. I mean, reality is not much I probably can do about it, is there?”

To which, the female cop said, “I mean, she can probably get charged with child porn.”

The father then expressed his shock by saying, “Who, she can? She’s 11-years-old.”

But the cop replied, “She’s creating it, right?”

The man again asserted, “She’s 11-years-old.”

But the officer did not step back and stated, “Doesn’t matter, she’s still making porn.”

The man added, “No, she’s not. She’s being manipulated by a grown a** adult on the internet.”

But the cop asked, “Is she taking pictures, though?” the father just asnwered, “You guys have a nice evening. Thank you for coming.”

Columbus PD investigates bungled response to child grooming case 

After the video was shared online, the Columbus Police Department issued a statement, saying, “Columbus Division of Police acknowledges a video being shared on social media involving two officers responding to a call for service.”

It went on to mention, “The Department of the Inspector General, which investigates complaints of misconduct and/or excessive use of force by sworn personnel, has opened an inquiry into this incident.”

“The Division of Police regards all allegations of sexual misconduct with the utmost seriousness. Incidents involving minors are handled with the highest degree of concern,” the department added.

Several people slammed the cops below the statement with one saying, "I will be watching for the outcome of this investigation."

Another one tweeted, "'Incidents involving minors are handled with the highest degree of concern.' Does what your officers did in the video support your 'highest degree of concern' claim? It's one thing to say it; it's another to walk it out."

"Your officers threatened to arrest an 11-year-old girl who had been groomed by an online predator. Delete your division," the third user added.
