Ohio dad on vacation bumps into his lookalike — and the first thing he asked was 'are you Seth Rogen?'
There are chances that two people might look alike but the odds of them meeting in their lifetimes may be slim. When Sean Douglas McArdle went to Vegas for his friend Dan’s 40th birthday celebrations, he unexpectedly ran into a mirror image of himself. As he was having a good time in the hotel pool, he saw someone who looked just like him. "Everybody on the opposite side pointed at me laughing and I just got a little embarrassed," he told Today.
The Kent State University professor and dad of 2 ended up speaking to his doppelganger and the two took a few pictures together. When McArdle uploaded one of them on Reddit, it did not take long before it went viral. The resemblance was eerily uncanny. The two individuals not only had a similar face and beard, they even wore similar caps and almost the exact same pair of glasses.
The university professor revealed that people had often compared him to Seth Rogen, so that’s what kept in mind as he spoke to his doppelganger. "I asked him, 'Are you Seth Rogen?' He chuckled,” he said. "I was the only person in the whole pool wearing glasses. I get weirded out if I can't see and I'm around a bunch of strangers, so I just kept my glasses on in the pool. He did, too."
Several Reddit users commented on the picture and similarities beyond looks. “You’re a very common NPC the spawn rate is super high on your model. I work with one of you, one of you works at my local grocer and my sister-in-law is married to one of you,” a user @Whiskeylung commented. “One of you will cease to exist as soon as the admin finds out,” @rafedbadru joked.
I wasn’t convinced until now…. we are definitely in a simulation. Today I randomly swam past my Doppelseäner at the Flamingo pool in Vegas.

Finding Someone Unexpected Occupying Your Seat
Doppelgangers can often be found in the most random of places but for one wedding photographer, the moment of meeting his lookalike came on a Ryan Air flight that he had boarded from Scotland as he was headed to Ireland. Neil Thomas Douglas met a man who was sitting in his seat by mistake and turns out they looked exactly the same. The two had a laugh and a chat before going their separate ways after taking a picture.
But the story didn't end there as both checked into the same hotel in Ireland. Douglas had gone to a pub later that night where he met his lookalike once again. After these coincidences in a single day, the two shared a drink together at the pub.
The picture of the duo was posted on X (formerly Twitter) by one of Neil’s friends and it has been retweeted several thousand times. Much like the Kent State University professor's tale, this was also a situation that gained viral status unexpectedly. It was followed by other ginger bearded men posting pictures of themselves and claiming that even they looked like Douglas.
