MONONGAHELA, PENNSLYVANIA: A mother has been charged with her son’s death after she allegedly failed to perform CPR on him in a critical condition.

Darian Helmantoler of Monongahela has been pressed with a homicide charge after her 12-day-old son died on Tuesday, September 12, WTAE reported.

How was Darian Helmantoler caught?

As per reports, first responders arrived at the 22-year-old woman’s home on Crest Street after it was reported that her child was not breathing.

It has also been said that Helmantoler was not responding to the 911 dispatchers and also did not do CPR on the baby when it was essential.

Soon police also reached the location to find the infant inside the ambulance with blood apparently flowing from his nose.

The woman told the cops that she and her baby were sleeping together after she gave him a bottle.

She also reportedly stated that she probably toppled over the toddler while asleep. She was eventually arrested and sent to the Washington County Jail.

Washington County District Attorney Jason Walsh said, “We had a healthy, less than 2-week-old baby with mom, the only person with access to the child, drinking and putting the child in bed with her.”

“It's horrific and this office, I think I made it a priority, you guys have been here, I am going to protect children, and I am going to seek justice for those most vulnerable in society, which I don't know what's more vulnerable than less than a two-week-old baby,” he added.

What did police find in Darian Helmantoler’s home?

During the search of Helmantoler’s house, cops reportedly retrieved two alcoholic drinks as well as a seemingly bloodied paper towel from the bathroom.

As per Barbara Mayfield, who is a neighbor of the accused, “How could you do this to somebody? A baby — 12-days-old. What could that child have done? But love it and hug it, everybody was crying. Everybody,” Mayfield added.

Besides, Russell said, as per CBS News, “Hopefully she gets what she deserves. That's not right. Innocent baby.”

Helmantoler is scheduled to appear for a preliminary hearing on September 20.
