No one knows where Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will spend their honeymoon, but these royal honeymoon destinations may give us a clue.

As the date for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's royal nuptials draws near, there are speculations about where they will spend their honeymoon together. All sources agree that it has to be somewhere private and away from the prying eyes of the public, with places ranging from the Caribbean Islands to the Seychelles to Namibia being touted as the getaway location for the royal couple.

Here are some of the places royals have honeymooned at across the years.


1. King George VI and Queen Elizabeth, the Queen Mother

King George courted Queen Elizabeth, but she rejected him twice before finally accepting his hand in marriage. They had their honeymoon in Surrey at a manor house called Polesden Lacey, spending two weeks together there.




2. Prince Philip and Queen Elizabeth II

Prince Philip met the future Queen of England at a wedding, but it would be over a decade before they finally had one of their own. They honeymooned at Birkhill Lodge in Balmoral Estate.



3. Prince Rainier III of Monaco and Grace Kelly

The American actress Grace Kelly retired from acting to wed her royal beau, Prince Rainier III of Monaco. They honeymooned for seven weeks on his yacht in the Mediterranean, and ended up in Mallorca at the Hotel Formentor.



4. Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson

Prince Andrew married his childhood friend Sarah Ferguson and they honeymooned in the Azores Islands off Portugal before touring the Atlantic in the now-decommissioned royal yacht, Brittania.




5. Prince Charles and Princess Diana

The oldest son of the reigning queen, Prince Charles, married his first wife, Princess Diana in 1981. The couple departed for a Mediterranean cruise on the royal yacht Britannia, before returning to Scotland, where they spent the rest of their honeymoon at Balmoral with the royal family.




6. Prince Frederik of Denmark and Mary Donaldson

Mary Donaldson met Prince Frederik at the Sydney Olympics in 2000, but she had no idea that he was the heir to the throne of Denmark. In 2004, they married in Copenhagen and spent three weeks in Tanzania on their honeymoon.




7. Prince William and Kate Middleton

The beloved royal couple met in school at St. Andrew's and after a brief split they married in 2011. They spent their honeymoon away from the public eye in Seychelles, on a private island.
