Miranda Lambert is now the most awarded country music artist in the history of the Academy of Country Music Awards.
Miranda Lambert made history on Sunday, April 15, at the 53rd Academy of Country Music Awards that was held at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, when she took home the 'Female Vocalist of the Year' Award once more, setting an unprecedented record in the history of country music.
The nominees for the highly coveted award that night were Reba McEntire, Maren Morris, Carrie Underwood, Kelsea Ballerini, and Miranda, which meant that competition was formidable. However, the winner of the night was Miranda, who got on stage to collect her award, beaming.
Amazingly, this is the ninth time in a row that she has taken home 'Female Vocalist of the Year,' a feat that has not been paralleled in any other category by any other artist apart from Brooks & Dunn. She surpassed Reba McEntire for most wins in the category last year.
As of April 15, 2018, Miranda is also the country artist with the most ACMs ever, boasting of 27 wins at the awards show over Brooks & Dunn's haul of 26. She is unlikely to be surpassed in the near future, either, as Brooks & Dunn haven't released any new material as a duo in years.
As she accepted the award, Miranda gushed, "I cannot believe this. I really can't. Thank you so much. I love country music. It is my entire life. I dedicate everything I have to it and for y'all to care so much about what I'm doing, I will never, ever take it for granted. Thank you so, so much. Praise Jesus, thank y'all."
The win was Miranda's second that night. She had earlier received the 'Song of the Year' award for her record 'Tin Man' that she co-wrote with Jack Ingram and Jon Randall. Interestingly, she debuted the song at last year's ACM Awards, and the music video for the song consisted of footage from the awards ceremony.
She celebrated her win after the ceremony with country music group Little Big Town, and they shared a video of the group lip-synching to Bruno Mars' hit 2016 single '24K Magic.' Miranda will be embarking on The Bandwagon Tour this summer with Little Big Town.
Miranda has been touring the country for her 'Livin' Like Hippies Tour' already, and recently wrapped up the first set of dates on March 26. She will be resuming the second leg of the tour on June 2, and her first show will be in Durant, Oklahoma.
