Man kills baby he fathered with biological daughter, then kills her before turning the gun on himself

The authorities believe that Pladl murdered the other 3 and then killed himself because Katie had just broken up with him.

43-year-old Steven Pladl had a baby with his biological daughter in a widely reported case of incest. Now it has been revealed that he killed the infant in North Carolina, murdered his daughter and her adoptive father who were 600 miles away before killing himself.

The authorities in three different states are working around the clock to try figure our the exact timeline of events that led to Pladl killing his 7-month-old boy, his daughter, her adoptive father, and finally, himself.

Pladl was discovered lifeless inside a parked car in Dover, New York, at around 8:40 am on April 12 with a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

20-year-old Katie Pladl, his biological daughter and the mother of the infant, was found dead alongside her adoptive father, 56-year-old Anthony Fusco, in Connecticut. Katie and Steven had also gotten married illegally last year.

CBS17 reported that the infant boy, Bennett, was the result of the incestuous relationship last September. He was found dead at a residence in Knightdale, North Carolina, where the couple used to reside.

Steven Pladl was reported to still be living in the home which is on Earlston Court.

Local police, who were asked to go to the home and conduct a welfare check at 9 am by Steven's mother, were the ones who found the corpse of the infant. Nobody else was at home.

It is believed that Pladl first killed Bennett after he picked him up from his mother's house in Cary on April 11. According to WTVR, the grandmother had custody of the child and he was living with her.

Pladl then drove 600 miles away to New Milford, Connecticut, where he shot dead his daughter, Katie, and her adoptive father as they were sitting in a pickup truck. He then went across the state line and then shot himself.

The authorities believe that Pladl murdered the other 3 and then killed himself because Katie had just broken up with him.

His mother can be heard in the 911 recording saying: "His wife broke up with him yesterday over the phone. She's in New York and he told me he was on his way to her and then he was coming back."

"He left the baby dead. He told me to call police and that I shouldn't go over there. He said the house is empty and he said he left a key under the front mat." She also said that Steven told her that he had killed Katie and Fusco.

Knightdale Police Chief Lawrence Capps confirmed during a press conference all three murders and Steven Pladl's suicide.

He said: "We are heart broken, saddened over the death of this child and like you we're trying to make sense of all the factors that lead up to this senseless taking of life."

The Pladl's got together in 2017 after Katie decided to get in touch with her birth parents in June 2016. Just a short while after, Alyssa, Katie's biological mother and Steven's ex-wife, separated from him and this gave the father and daughter an opportunity to start their affair.

In July 2017, the the two of them "got married" and posted photographs of their lakeside "wedding" on social media. Katie was pregnant with baby Bennett at that time and gave birth to him shortly after. Since that time, the two parents doted on their child on Instagram.

The couple was arrested in January 2018 when Katie's biological mom, Alyssa, found out about their marriage and told the cops.

Both Steven and Katie were then extradited to Henrico County, Virginia, to face the multiple charges of incest, adultery, and contributing to delinquency of a minor.

Steven Pladl was released on a bond but was told to stay in Virginia and await his trial. He was also asked not to make any contact with Katie. The conditions of the bond were changed later to let him travel to North Carolina.

Katie Pladl was released from prison in late February after a $12,000 secured bond was posted. The conditions of her release was that she have no contact with Steven and that she stay with her adoptive parents in New York.

Alyssa told the Daily Mail in February about how she found out about the relationship between Katie and Steven in her 11-year-old's journal. After she and her ex-husband, Steven Pladl, had separated, the 11-year-old boy would switch between her house and Steven's house where Katie was also living.

The child wrote about how Katie was pregnant and also described Steven as "Satan". He also wrote that because Katie was "human" and Steven was "Satan", the baby would be born a "half-demon".

Steven gave Alyssa the journal in March 2017 and said that the boy was "acting out". Alyssa was horrified by what she read and thought that this was probably her son's way of telling her about the incestuous relationship.

She immediately called the police and informed them about everything but Steven and Katie still lived in the same house and then got "married" in July. Katie's adoptive parents and Steven's mother attended the ceremony.

Baby Bennett was born shortly after this.
