A teacher was caught by surprise when an absolute stranger handed her $500 and asked her to do something amazing with it.
Kimber Bermudez, a teacher from Chicago, was flying to Florida to meet her parents. She was in flight when a fellow friendly co-passenger started talking to her and asked her what she does for a living.
As told to CNN, Kimber wasn't aware that other people were listening and she started talking about how much she loves her job at Carlos Fuentes Charter School, teaching first graders. "I'm a talker", she told CNN, "That's the kind of person I am." She talked about how 87% of students in her school are classified as low-income and have very limited knowledge of English. Her school, however, helps these students in need and provides the students with free breakfast, lunch and extra after-school programs.
The man Kimber was talking to, asked her to give information about her school as the company he works for does a lot of charity work and would love to donate for Kimber's school to help the children. The other passengers were listening, as well and suddenly Kimber felt a tap on her shoulder.
The man sitting behind her was listening to her conversation and handed her over some money, asking her to "Do something amazing with it". Kimber didn't realize at first why the man was handing over money to her.
She took the money, thanking him, without counting. "My parents always taught me not to count money in front of people because it's rude," she said. Later when she realized, the man had given her a $500, she didn't believe her eyes!
One man sitting across to Kimber gave her a 20$ and another passenger handed her over a 10$, it was all the money they had. Kimber didn't even ask for donations, the passengers donated out of their own kindness and took her by surprise.
Kimber took to her Facebook page to appreciate the passengers and share their kindness with the world. Her post has been shared thousands of times and has over 40k likes! The school she works for has received donations of $1500 so far from people who've heard Kimber's story to help the less fortunate children. The internet is going all "aww" over this wonderful story!
The response she got after posting her wonderful experience.
Kimber's story has reached a lot of people across the globe as her Facebook post has gone viral. A lot of good folks have already donated to Kimber's GoFund me page while many are still willing. You can visit Kimber's page to donate here.
