LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Comedy legend Roseanne Barr recently turned 71. The actress, who celebrated her birthday on November 3, has had a lengthy on-screen career, which suffered in the last few years because of her discriminatory remarks.

Barr played the title role in the beloved sitcom 'Roseanne,' but was slammed when she tweeted a racist comment and called Valerie Jarrett, an ex  advisor to former President Barack Obama, 'an ape', as reported by Amomama.

Barr has been transparent about backing Donald Trump

Barr has been open about her support of former President Donald Trump. However, she attributed her offensive joke to her poor health and emotional instability. She added that she believed Jarrett was Caucasian.

After facing severe criticism, the actress went missing for a few weeks. When asked about her reaction to Barr's remarks, Jarrett brushed it off and asked, "Roseanne who?"

But when asked whether she would be attending Barr's stand-up show, Jarrett stated that she wouldn't and hoped that nobody else would as well, calling it a "teachable moment" for the comedian.

"I recognize she thinks I wronged her," Barr said in response to Jarrett, but it was frustrating for her to start a public apology because she was constantly made fun of for the same thing.

The sitcom veteran acknowledged that she had a gastric bypass in 1998, which caused her to lose eighty pounds.

Barr had to deal with the problem of excess skin after losing so much weight, and which she resolved with a stomach tuck.

The actress acknowledged that she gained more weight along the way, but she did not punish herself for it. The journey was not easy for her. Rather, she kept up her diligent work.

The comedian revealed that eating better and exercising more had changed her life. She loved how much lighter she felt, so her objective was to keep up her healthy lifestyle.

She posted a picture of herself looking amazing in a body-revealing black and red floral dress with the caption, "Feeling good, looking better."

Barr has stated that being a grandmother has had the biggest influence on her life despite all the changes she has experienced. The 71-year-old feels obligated to mentor her children to become good parents as she has six grandchildren.

Barr claims that though she is justified in being more assertive, she still wants her grandchildren to grow up in a happy and healthy environment, enjoy successful romantic relationships, and experience the joys of being parents.
