She sent her dad a video of her hair loss from chemo — then came the most 'dad' response

One of the most rigorous and challenging medical treatments revolves around cancer, often involving a combination of surgery, radiation, chemotherapy, and immunotherapy. The mental and physical toll this experience can have on the patient and their families is beyond imagination. But 22-year-old Dalilah Agbisit (@dalilah.biscuit) shared how her dad’s brilliant sense of humor lifts the burden of cancer treatment and helps her laugh her way out of the unfortunate scenario. In a viral video on TikTok, Agbisit shared her dad’s hilarious reaction when she opened up to him about her drastic hair loss. 

With a look of disappointment, Agbisit decided to show her father the dreaded side effects of radiation treatment– hair loss. The internet watched as she proceeded to pull out a bunch of hair strands from the back of her head and held them up in front of the camera with an awkward smile on her face. The girl then made the wise decision to send the snippet to her father sitting at work far away from home. “Losing hair due to cancer treatment, and my dad sends back this,” she wrote in the overlay text of the video. 

What followed was a rib-tickling response from her dad that vaulted the wholesome moment into an internet sensation. Soon after Agbisit’s bit, the video cuts to her father, Adam Agbisit (@adamagbisit) with an intense look on his face. In typical dad fashion, he mimicked his daughter and pretended to pull hair out from his shiny bald head. Wearing a high-visibility jacket and spectacles dangling on his neck, Mr. Agbisit got her suffering daughter chuckling by the end with his deadpan humor. She later confirmed to Newsweek, “It made me laugh for sure.” 

Explaining her dad’s approach to her cancer diagnosis, Dalilah said he "always tries to remain lighthearted during hard times and his humor has got me through a lot, whether it be some small thing I'm stressed over or what I'm going through right now.” Earlier this year, she was diagnosed with stage 2 acinic cell carcinoma, a rare type of salivary gland cancer. A tumor from her parotid gland was removed, and followed up with a series of radiation treatments. “I began radiation treatment in February and have been going through a whirlwind of side effects,” Dalilah revealed. 

As the drastic effects of the treatments are only starting to show, Dalilah seeks comfort in her father’s support and sense of humor, of course. Even though Mr. Agbisit is far apart, stationed with the U.S. Army at Fort Stewart in Georgia, he does whatever he can to stand by his daughter as she tackles the disease. "He's been doing everything he can from far away to make sure I'm taken care of and remain in good spirits through everything," Dalilah noted. The video offered a dose of laughter to millions on the internet, with over 3.2 million views and 488,100 likes. 

One person (@xwrongwongx) wrote, “He said, ‘Sweetie, it's not the cancer, baldness runs in the family,’” while another (@shelby_head) said, “It is nice of you to go bald in support of your dad.” Some others related to her dad’s humor and shared their own versions of it. “I lost my hair too from chemo, and my dad would call me his ‘bald eagle’,” quipped an internet user (@peglegthegreat), and someone else (@shinymari_) shared, “When mine started falling out, my dad started collecting it, he got all that he could.” The post also revived a heartwarming note from the man himself, Adam. "Sweetheart, I will always support you, especially in times of health. Bald makes no difference. I love you with or without hair," he penned.
