Single dad wears a pink dress to his sons' Mother’s Day event — just to make them feel included

Being a single mom has its own difficulties, challenges, and rewards. But being a single father is a completely different experience. And, unfortunately, single dads do not get as much appreciation and support as they should. More often than not, it is said that a mother can play the roles of both father and mother, but people don't believe the opposite to be true. Well, here is a single dad from Thailand who aced a mom's role in front of a full house and brought immense joy to his children.

Single dad Chatchai "Sam" Panuthai made sure his children Imsome, 3, and Ozone, 5 (at the time) weren't going to feel left out for not showing up with their mother on the Mother's Day event at their school. On Mother's Day, which is celebrated on August 12 in Thailand, Panuthai wore a pink dress to attend the event with his children, according to HuffPost.

His friend, Kornpat Ae Sukhom, captured the Mother's Day ceremony on camera. In Thailand, Mother's Day is celebrated by children kneeling down in front of their mothers and thanking them for all that they do. The video shows Panuthai's kids doing the same. Sukhom’s video has since gone viral and received over 6 million views since August 2018. Parnuthai said, "I’m a single dad so I just wanted to make sure that my two sons were happy. I was a bit embarrassed, but it meant that they could take part like their classmates," reports Unilad. Sukhom, in addition to others, was so touched by this incident that she couldn't help but name Panuthai the "best mother."

She said, "In Thailand, if it’s Mother’s Day, every mother has to join in activities with their children at school. The children’s parents are divorced and the mother is now living in Europe. This is why he showed up to the school wearing a dress to take the place of her in the celebration." She added, "He wanted the children not to feel left out because their mother had left them."

August 12 is commemorated as Mother's Day in Thailand as it is the birthday of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit and Thai people value her as their mother and celebrate the day with full fervor. Not just that, they also take this day as an opportunity to thank their mother for whatever they have done for them and donate alms to monks.
