Starbucks drive-thru worker tears up after finding out her teenage sister is now cancer-free
A Starbucks drive-thru employee received an order she will never forget. Emily Mejia posted a video on TikTok of her mother driving up to the drive-thru window Emily was working at to give a piece of good news as part of her coffee order. Her mother, Christine, 41, ordered a "latte with a shot of espresso, 2 percent milk, and one pump of CAR-T and 100 percent cancer-free please." Emily's 13-year-old sister, Megan Mejia, was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia in August 2021 and had been getting CAR-T immunotherapy treatment for her disease until being formally declared cancer-free, reports Indy100.

Emily was confused at first and she can be seen lifting her headset and trying to process what she just heard. She gasped and asked, "Actually? Really?" She was completely overwhelmed by emotion while saying, "You're gonna make me cry, are you serious?" She added, "Oh my God. You're making me cry at work." She laughed while wiping her tears away. Emily's mother, continuing to be witty, seemed still eager to obtain her coffee order after hearing the wonderful news. She said, "Can I really get that latte though?" Emily's TikTok has garnered a stunning 23 million views, 5.4 million likes, and hundreds of comments until now.

The family has gone through a difficult time as a result of Megan's cancer struggle. They discovered that she has a rare kind of leukemia that is resistant to treatment and is present in only one percent of children with the disease after she was diagnosed, per The Daily Mail. It is why she underwent the experimental immunotherapy, with intentions to follow it up with a bone marrow transplant to block the spread of the new disease.

Doctors stated that one of Megan's siblings would possibly have a 25% chance of being a perfect match for a bone marrow transplant. While most patients end up using a registry to identify donors due to this reason, Megan turned out to be lucky. Three of her siblings, Brianna, 22, Emily, 18, and Ben, 12 discovered they were a great match for her bone marrow transplant. This was revealed in a "bone match reveal" video posted by Emily which has also been widely shared and viewed. Christine spoke to Daily Mail, "Megan is getting a second chance at a healthy life because of her sibling. This is worth celebrating." She added, "I've seen so many gender reveal parties, so why not throw a Bone Marrow Reveal Party? Both are announcing and celebrating a new life."
TikTok users wanted to see Megan as well after Emily posted the video of her being surprised at work. In a follow-up video, she thanked everyone for their support, "I did not expect the video to blow up, I only thought my friends would see it." She then moved the camera around to her younger sister Megan. She asked her sister how it felt to be cancer-free, to which she answered in hushed tones, "Cancer-freeing."
