BILLINGS, MONTANA: A family has been left devastated after a toddler, who was about to turn one, lost his life in a tragic turn of events. Tatee'k Morrison was killed after his father Kenneth Morrison was fatally shot and he fell on him, PEOPLE reported.

The tragic incident happened on November 1 when the infant and his 31-year-old father were visiting a house on the 700 block of North 17th Street in Billings.

It has been said that a pick-up truck came near the house at around ten in the morning and launched several rounds of bullets before fleeing the place.

‘It appears the adult collapsed from his wounds and fell on the child’

As per Chief Rich St John when cops reached the location “there was no answer when [officers] knocked on the door.”

“Officers began looking in windows and they saw a dog that had been shot and was down. Under the deceased, officers found a one-year-old male who was unresponsive,” the chief said.

St John added, “It appears the adult collapsed from his wounds and fell on the child.” Tatee'k was then rushed to the hospital but he could not be saved.

‘It's just really messed up’

Zack Wilson, the uncle of Tatee'k, told KTVQ, “You don’t think that those things would happen, but so much violence has happened lately. Gun violence here in Billings is getting a little scary.”

Zack’s teenage son Riley Wilson shared, “We had (the party) all set up and everything. (Tatee'k) was there visiting. That was not his home or anything like that.”

The 13-year-old boy also stated, “It's just really messed up. With the baby there and everything.”

‘We just hope that justice does happen’

But despite the huge setback, the family wanted to celebrate Tatee’k on November 2, which would have been the child's first birthday. Zack reportedly said, “Today is his birthday. We just want to celebrate his life and wish him a happy birthday. And we love you.

“Just know that we all love you and we miss you already.”

The family member also added, “It was very tragic what happened. We just hope that justice does happen. We do know, a little bit, that his dad was trying to protect him. And that’s tough.”
