Children have a vivid imagination and grow up believing in monsters and fairies, but sometimes the stories they come up with might emerge from real-life experiences, and it's advisable for parents to pay attention. In one such case, a three-year-old girl named Saylor Class began complaining about hearing monsters in her bedroom, but her parents were quick to dismiss it as their child's imagination.

But they were eventually proven wrong and were stunned to see a bee-keeper discover 50,000 bees buzzing inside the walls of their 100-year-old house. "We even gave her a bottle of water and said it was monster spray so that she could spray away any of the monsters at night," Ashley Massis Class, Saylor Class's mother, told BBC.

“At first, I thought it was a body,” Class told People magazine, and added that “I was like, ‘What is that?’ And he says he thinks it’s a hive."

"There were streams of bees, and the wall where he hit was oozing honey. But it looked like blood because it was really, really dark, running down my daughter’s pink walls. It looked really strange," she remarked. The mother soon noticed bees swarming in clusters near the attic outside their 100-year-old house and called pest control who found the honeybees, a protected species in the US.

The bees had spent more than eight months in there according to the beekeepers who noticed that the insects were traveling towards the floorboard of the attic, which was right above the three-year-old's bedroom.

"It lit up like Christmas," Ms Massis Class said. "They just came pouring out like a horror movie," she added. According to BBC, the beekeeper removed between 55,000 and 65,000 bees and 100lb (45kg) of honeycomb. The honey and the honeybees had damaged the house's entire electric wiring and the repairs will cost the family around $20,000.

"The honey dripped down all these electrical wires, so we have to redo that. Our daughter is going to be out of her bedroom for at least four weeks because we have to wait two weeks to see if bees come in and try to make a new hive by smelling the honey," she added.

Soon, after a few days of work by the beekeeper, all the 50,000 bees were safe along with the queen. They will now be moved to a bee sanctuary.

Sadly, around 2,000 bees died in the wall as their queen had already been shifted. "We've been leaving the window open, hoping the remaining ones fly out, but many will die without being able to smell the queen, as I understand," Class told People. "The beekeeper has assured us that what has been saved is significant versus what's been lost," she concluded.

Massis Class later took to TikTok to share her whole story, and the video went viral. "It's been really interesting to see, between people who are afraid it could happen to them — because I have learned it's very common — to other people sharing stories of their damage, it's connected us with a lot of people. I didn't expect that at all," she told People.
