The way this little kid reacts to a classic film will remind you why old movies still matter today

People have memories associated with songs and movies that they heard or watched when they were kids, and they pass these on to their own children later on. "Homeward Bound" is a classic when it comes to children's movies, and one parent decided to show it to their two-year-old kid.
The flick is about two pet dogs and one pet cat getting separated from their family and finding their way back home against all odds. Allison Gress (@allison_gress) showed the film to her two-year-old son, Braiden, who cried buckets as he saw the last scene of the movie. That’s the reaction a lot of adults have upon watching that scene as well. The mother uploaded the moment captured in a video on TikTok, and viewers also saw that the two-year-old had a younger sibling and two dogs. At the end of the movie, the cat and one of the dogs find their way back to their family. However, the second dog, which was a golden retriever, was nowhere to be seen. This was the part where Allison’s son could not hold back his tears.

However, the golden retriever named Shadow can be seen a few moments later running towards them from a distance, making it a happy ending. That’s when the kid stopped crying, and he seemed happier about how things turned out. The video had the text overlay, “My 2 year old’s reaction to the end of Homeward Bound.” Several viewers related to the experience and made their thoughts known in the comments section.

“Shadow coming over the hill still breaks my heart at 36 years old,” one user commented. “When shadow says 'oh Peter! I’ve missed you so' and the music swells I lose it!” exclaimed another. “I'm near 30 and have the same reaction and I've seen it a million times lol,” a fan wrote.
According to a report in Newsweek, Allison said that she wanted to show her son a movie that she loved as a kid. She also believed that it might teach him to be loving towards animals, especially the ones that are a part of his family. "I had no idea he would react in the way he did," she said. "He cried a few times throughout the movie, but I kept reminding him that I wouldn't make him watch a movie without happy ending," she added.
The video blew up on TikTok, and that’s something Allison wasn’t expecting at all. "I never expected the video to blow up the way that it did. Something in me decided to record his reaction to the end of the movie, mostly just to share with his dad while he was at work,” she explained.
