People are just finding out they've been cutting toenails wrong after watching this bizarre video
People are conditioned to do things a certain way for generations and they don't bother to check if that's the correct way. The way we do things while growing up becomes so normalized that any other way of doing the same seems wrong. Even something as simple as clipping toenails is something many people have been doing all wrong. There’s only one way of doing it that prevents all kinds of risks but that's something most have never learned, as per UNILAD.
A video on Creative Learning’s YouTube channel shows the correct way of clipping toenails that prevents any chance of growth under the skin. Ingrown nails can't be taken lightly as the pain can sometimes become unbearable, not to mention the internal bleeding and infection it might trigger. This makes it even more crucial for everyone to follow the correct method for general food health.

It turns out you’re not supposed to cut your toenails too short or round the edges. The nail will grow back depending on how it is cut. A rounded nail will extend along the sides and can get stuck into your skin and cutting either side of a toenail may also cause a similar problem. The best way to get it done is to clip them straight across, with a little bit of the sides sticking out over the skin.
This will prevent nails from growing back into the foot, causing unnecessary pain. Many people were shocked at this revelation and they made their feelings clear in the comments section of the video. "911 what’s your emergency? I’VE BEEN CUTTING MY NAILS ROUND MY WHOLE LIFE!" user @momentdepriere commented. “But imagine wearing socks after clipping your nails like that,” @RealRandomSmart mentioned.
Turns out this is not the only thing to follow if you want perfect toenail health, according to a list by Healthline. First of all, a person needs to have the proper set of nail-clipping tools. Fingernails and toenails should have separate clippers so that the spread of any germs from the feet to the hands may be prevented. Secondly, one should cut their toenails once in every six to eight weeks. For athletes, that frequency is a bit more.
Now it is popular belief that wet toenails are easier to clip but everyone shouldn’t do that. Only people with thick toenails should cut wet nails to make them soft for the clipper. Otherwise cutting them dry makes more sense. They won’t bend and it will be easier to get a clean cut. Most would think that cutting a nail ends the process but unfortunately, that is not the case.
When cutting both your fingernails & toenails, there are a couple important factors to keep in mind:

The final step of cutting a toenail is filing the newly cut nail to blunt any sharp edges that might persist. Sharpness in toenails can cause a lot of problems like tearing through socks. A sharp and pointy toenail is also more susceptible to breaking on significant impact. A lot of people have experienced what it’s like to have a broken toenail and it does not feel good.
