Toddler calls 911 due to a 'donut emergency' — then the police showed up at his house

Imagine the shock of a parent when the police show up at their door, not for an emergency, but to spoil them with a treat. A family in Oklahoma was witness to a similar sight when a few police officers knocked on their door with a big box of Dunkin’ Donuts. A mysterious caller from their home had called for help. Bennett, a toddler from Moore, was toying around with an old mobile phone and dialed up 911, calling for an emergency. More specifically, “emergency donuts.” The little guy had a full-fledged conversation with a 911 operator to explain his donut crisis. ABC 7 Chicago (@ABC7Chicago) shared a wholesome compilation of the instance on YouTube, and it is easily one of the most favorite moments on the internet.

“911. It’s an emergency…emergency donuts!” the toddler quipped at the beginning. Initially, Bennett had dialed 911 and hung up. But then, he called them back, asking for a childish request to bring him donuts, Motherly reported. The wholesome instance was kicked off when the 911 dispatcher took the hint and played along with the toddler’s whims. In a professional tone, the dispatcher said, “Donuts? I want donuts. Are you going to share your donuts?” Not up for a bargain, Bennett responded with a firm, “No, I’m not.”

The next thing you know, the Moore Police Department utilized their resources to trace the address of the caller and drove out for the donut emergency. The following morning, the police officers reached the family’s home and surprised Bennett with his donuts, as requested. Officers Rumsey and Wallace greeted the parents who opened the door. “Well, we brought you some donuts,” Wallace said. A thrilling “Yessss!” echoed from inside the house. Bennett was happy to get his hands on some delicious donuts brought to him by the police. Rumsery chimed in, “You called us about donuts. We came to give you some donuts.”

The mother fetched his young lad and brought him to the door. Bennett giggled in joy and rushed to grab the sprinkled treat, followed by his elder sibling, who was equally excited. The sweet instance wrapped up with a snap of Bennett nibbling on a donut and posing with the officers on his side. “Bye. Have a good day!” the phone conversation tuned in at the end. According to 911.gov, old or uninitialized phones can dial 911 during a crisis. However, it is not encouraged because once disconnected, the 911 center would have no way to call back.
While the wholesome moment stormed the internet, experts have weighed in on the need for children’s awareness about emergency calls. Candace Ochalik, a 911 operations and training supervisor in Virginia Beach, told WAVY, “You never know when you’re going to get to a situation that you need help.”
Serious talk aside, people are amused by the toddler’s prank call and reacted to the hilarious moment under a YouTube post shared by Inside Edition (@InsideEdition). One person (@Woozlewuzzleable) wrote, “It's an emergency, he had a serious case of the munchies,” while another (@WessyD123) figured, “Now that kid is gonna be calling 911 for everything.” “Patience, care, and duty for their community. This warms my heart. All the respect for these officers,” a third commenter (@livinglegacy7) added. Someone else (@NathanJReal) criticized, “Uhh, don’t encourage it.”
